Looks like the Phins are pretty stacked on Defense, especially on the line and in the secondary, Hows the Linebacking core look

LB corps is okay. I am not overly concerned about the D.

From what I've read, the OL is shaping up. If the QB situation can get resolved then things will be looking up.

If whoever wins the job could duplicate what Dilfer did w/ the Ravens a few yrs back then the sky is the limit.

The only way to go is up though, don't worry give em a year or two and they'll be competing with the best.

Stacked on defense. No way but they do have a solid unit. LB are decent but the secondary is gonna miss Surtain a lot. Madison isn't what he used to be and is gonna have trouble filling his #1 spot. Sammy Knight like it or not is a solid Saftey. Schulters does provide a decent starter and the dolphins defense is gonna be pretty good.

Heres My Ranking of the Dolphins D

    Secondary-B-
Madison Starts along with either Mario Edwards or Reggie Howard. Tebucky Jones, Tillman, and Tony Bua should be competing for the spot across from Schulters.

    Linebackers-B

Zack Thomas solidifies the Inside with Crowder as a back up and possible starter at OLB, Seau gets the start on one side and I have no idea about any others competing for the other spot besides the long shot of Crowder.

    D-line-A
Carter and Taylor on the edges with Keith Traylor taking the middle next to Zgonina this unit should be great, along with Matt Roth and Vonnie Holiday as situational Ends.

In all I give the Dolphins Defense a solid B

Sammy Knight is now a Kansas City Chief along with Surtain.

now the only weak position is the #2 corner which they can address in the draft or if they want to pickup Law in free agency then they would have a kicka$$ secondary

Whats going on with the new defense though?...is saban still trying to make it more of a 3-4 and going to stand Taylor up? It should be interesting to see how the vets adapt to a new defense which is something they haven't had to do for a while...it used to be in your grill man to man alot of the time..now they might try and get a little more tricky and trying to mix and match coverages since they lost surtain..one of the better man to man corners in the league...just curious what the phins fans are hearing his style is going to be.

Saban is not changing the Dolphins to a 3-4 team despite what The Sporting News & other publications may say.

Pats, you can understand this. Saban is doing what Belichick did a few years back. Staying w/ a 4-3 base but giving many different looks.

Jason Taylor is being used in a number of places along the front 7. Additionally, other DE's are lining up @ OLB. In other words, they are mixing things up and not being so vanilla.

Madison, JT, Zach, & Junior are enjoying the new scheme and are helping bring the Younger players along. JT is tutoring Vernon Carey who it appears will be the LT. VC is holding up well against JT.

Ya Belichicks first season we predominately were 4-3 then he switched to a hybrid and when ted washington came around is was pretty much all 3-4 from there...but they will line up in any formation he can come up with...my favorite is still the one down lineman scheme we threw at buffalo a few years back and they didn't know what to do...we just beat the snot out of bledsoe cus they had no idea who to block. I'm very interested to see saban's formations...it should be fun.

yea i know thats why your defense is gonna struggle a bit. They are a great unit but not a stacked unit. The lost of those 2 were a blow.

I hear ya. The schemes BB develops are wild. I love what he did against the Rams in the Super Bowl. Anyone who can implement a 2-6-3 and win is okay in my book

Appearantly, Saban has a formation for the D where they appear to overload the Offense's left in hopes they throw to the other side which has a man-zone combo where an incomplete pass is optimum results.

The best secondary has always been a fierce pass rush. Saban is more oriented towards the front 7. Signing a #2 CB would not hurt. I would love to see Bobby Taylor signed for insurance. Daniels will do well. Next year, when Poole comes back, the secondary will be improved.
