<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Akron Beacon Journal - According to Akron Beacon Journal writer Brian Windhorst, Heat free agent Damon Jones visited the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday and Monday, meeting with Cavaliers officials and touring Gund Arena. Jones averaged a career-high 11.6 points and 4.3 assists as the starting point guard last season. His primary job was to sit on the perimeter and wait for Shaquille O'Neal or Dwyane Wade to draw double teams and then burn the opposition. He made 43 percent of his 3-point shots, nailing 225 of them, third most in the NBA. The Cavaliers shot just 300 3-pointers as they were the second-worst 3-point shooting team. That meant that the Cavaliers struggled finding an answer to the double teams on LeBron James or Zydrunas Ilgauskas. A month ago, Jones opted out of a contract with the Heat that would've paid him $2.75 million. The Cavaliers could offer him a deal for up to $3.9 million to start. That is their remaining salary-cap room. The Heat could pay Jones more, they have all of their $5 million mid-level exception left. Jones, a good friend of O'Neal, has been in talks with the Heat and indicated that he'd like to stay. The Heat, though, have hinted that they might wait to spend their money until players are waived under the amnesty provision.</div> Source
Beatiful!!! He would be the last key to this team. Our starting lineup would look just as good as the Heat.
Damon Jones was quite a player for us last year(Heat) no offense to Cav fans but hopefully he stays in MIA.
yeah idk y he left miami...he could have gotten a ring...but i think he was bitter cause wade got people's 50 most beautiful...anyway he damon joined the cavs then they will have all the 3 point shooting they were lacking
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Our starting lineup would look just as good as the Heat.</div> Um... I really don't see that. Shaq is twice the center Big Z is. And the rest of the Heat roster is more skilled than the Cavs roster. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">i think he was bitter cause wade got people's 50 most beautiful</div> I really don't think he'd leave the oppurtunity to get a ring for a reason like that. Besdies he was joking about it after it occured.
Jones would be a nice player to replace Jeff McInnis and Eric Snow (if he leaves). He can add another outside threat for the Cavs and be a nice player to feed Lebron the ball. Would be a great pickup for both sides if this can go down.
Yea, Jones fills two needs for the Cavs: someone to distribute the ball and a reliable 3-point shooter. If the Cavs get him they've pretty much addressed most of their problems from last year.
If Damon signs with the Cavs, they will definalty be one of the hot teams of the East. Damon is very underrated and was a key player to Miami getting where they did last season.

One thing the Cavs have lacked is shooting and with Damon Jones, they get that shooter to compliment LeBron James. The Cavs have been looking for a shooter and if Luke Jackson was healthy, he would be providing that. With a shooter, LeBron can get into the lane effortlessly with the ensurance of a shooting presence once he gets double teamed. Also when Drew Gooden starts drawing double teams while he's posting up, that should further spread the offense out. With Damon Jones, they also get someone who LeBron James can play off of so he can utilize his scoring ability more. In addition, they get an experienced veteran who just went to the Conference Finals last year; that would be the perfect mentor for LeBron. Obviously, there are so many positives we can draw from this signing if it goes down. The Cavs will almost be a playoff lock if they can get Damon Jones to their lineup. This spells trouble for everyone else in the East. Hopefully he just decides to stay in Miami.
Drew Gooden definitely has the potential. Remember, this guy was drafted 4th in the draft in 2002. Eventually when he starts getting better, I think he will be able to start drawing some double teams.
Damon Jones if he signs with the Cavs will soon relize he ain't **** without Shaq. Just like Derek Fisher. Honestly who has heard anyoone mention Derek Fisher outside of message boards? Damon Jones is a fool if he leaves Miami.
