What do you people believe the starting lineup will be? I believe it will be: PG: Jason Kidd SG: Vince Carter SF: RJ PF: Shareef Abdul-Rahim C: Nenad Krstic I think this will be a pretty good lineup for the Nets. If they stay healthy for the season, this team will definitely make it to the playoffs and get past the 1st round of the playoffs.
I do not see how the starting line up will differ from the one you layed out, with the exception that in some (in not many) situations the Net will start Collins over Kristic. I that the the greatest question is how the bench and rotation will look. Any championship caliber team should be able to win with one or two main players out with injuries. I am mostly worried about big men bench players behind SAR, Kristic, and Collins because right now there is no one.
You Nets will be one of the main forces in the East. Sort of a dark horse that are the closest you can be in the East to beating Miami, Detroit and Indiana.
Collins will be a starter and that will be for most of the year, its a better fit for defensive and depth reasons. Krstic will be extremely effective this year as a backup. I know everyone may be thinking well last year, he was much more effective as a starter then a backup and that is true. But there was more to the situation then just that. When Alonzo Mourining was here at the start of the season and he played well, Krstic minutes would be most effected of any big man on the roster. So his minutes with Zo in the rotation was inconsistent. But when Zo got hurt(and then eventually traded) his minutes became more consistent. And we were able to see the true Nenad Krstic. so we can use Krstic now in the 2nd unit effectively because we know the consistent minutes will be there for him
The starting lineup can be laid out in one way, and this way only: C: Nenad Krstic PF: Shareef Abdur-Rahim SF: Vince Carter SG: Richard Jefferson PG: Jason Kidd <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post">You Nets will be one of the main forces in the East. Not with Jason Williams, James Posey and Antoine Walker added to the roster. That gives them a starting lineup of: C: Shaquille O'Neal PF: Antoine Walker SF: James Posey SG: Dwayne Wade PG: Jason Williams Antoine Walker might or might not start over Udonis Haslem, but with a lineup like that, you might as well just hand them the cup and call it a day.
Miami will be the best team in the East next year, no doubt, but their lineup didn't improve like a lot of people think. Gains- Trigger-happy Walker (who will start between him and Haslem and can he accept a bench role?) - Posey - eratic JWill who West was so eager to be rid of Losses- EJ (best perimeter defender on the team and great shooter) -Dooling (energetic back-up pg who helped a lot in playoffs) -Butler (good defender and great shooter) - DJ? (one of the best shooters in the league) They not only lose team chemistry this offseason, but also the shooting that made them so successful in the playoffs. As for the Nets starting line-up, I disagree with a lot of you about Collins starting. Krstic has proven to be cash with those midrangers, and he's sure to get so many with such an offensively talented line-up drawing extra defenders. Collins just can't make those shots as well.
I think it will be a big mistake for Jason Collins to start. As a Nets fan, I would rather have Nenad or SAR ahead of Collins. I don't like Collins at all, and I don't think he is good for anything really, he's just big. I think we should've shipped him instead of Aaron Williams, I liked A-train better. But damn, the Miami lineup is looking REAL beastly. They most def. have that number 1 seed in the east. I can see the Nets in the 2 or 3 seed. And those are my thoughts.

Chemistry is just as important and with 3 players looking to score 20+ points and Shaq's history of naming players ballhogs, anything could happen. I like the more simple Nets lineup more then the Heat's superstar lineup.
Regardless of whether we get the 4th, 3rd, 2nd or 1st seed, I think we will be one of the elite teams in the NBA, and will have a good chance to compete in and win every game next season. Last year we would have needed a miracle to beat teams like Miami, SA, Detroit, Dallas or Phoenix.

They will need chemistry in place as bad as the Heat would need it in order to be successful. Is Jeff McGinnis any less of a headcase than Antoine Walker? I don't think so. Shaquille O'Neal didn't take a $10 million paycut just to see Pat Riley acquire headcases, and with O'Neal and Wade around, the locker room is set. Pat Riley would be sure to have a meeting with Jason Williams before the training camp, and J-Will would have to listen to Riley because if he doesn't, he'll be driven out of the NBA on an expressway.
I htink Collins should start because Krystic tends to get in foul trouble, plus Collins gives us defense, and we can use Krystic's offense later in games or weh we need it.

I'm really sorry, but I really just don't like Collins. I favor Krstic.
I would prefer that Collins and Kristic inter-change starting roles depending on match-ups. For example, if the Nets are playing the heat, Collins will start and hopefully play most of the games. Against someone like Dalembert, it would make sense to start Kristic and have him play most of the game because it would put defensive pressure on Dalembert to defend Kristic, rather than roam around and block SAR. You can also consider things through athletic matchups. Kristic would work better against fast moving guys, while Collins would work better against bulkier guys.
Alright, Iam telling you right now, alot of you cats are going to be upset when the season starts and Collins is still the starting Center(which is the most logical thing, whether people want to except it or not). He is the best defensive big we have right now, period. He will start games for no other reason then the fact he will be needed to cover other teams most opposing bigs. I know everybody hates Collins cause his stats are horrid. But we want need that much stat production from him playing alongside Reef in the frontcourt. Krstic, I love the way he is coming along, but realistically he cant cover alot of the starting 5's in this league. Its to much size for him in alot of cases and it leads to him getting into alot of foul trouble, which the Nets dont want this year, with the depth of the frontcourt being limited.
I don't care whether Jason or Nenad starts as long as Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, and Reef stay healthy for atleast 75 games.... Realistically, they'll both probably get equal minutes and it won't matter who starts as much as who ends the game. If we need points, Nenad will be in the game. If we're in dire need of defense Jason will be in the game. At the end of the season I bet they both average around 25-28 minutes a game.

They will give you all the points needed from the starting frontcourt. Krstic will benefit the 2nd unit frontcourt cause it's strong point right now looks like it will be defense with Cliff Robinson(and probably Dale Davis or Malik Allen) so Krstic can provide the scoring in the frontcourt 2nd unit
