This surprisingly turned out to be the largest trade in the history of the NBA, 5 teams and 13 players were involved.

your 2005-2006 NBA Champions... Miami Heat as long as most of the players stay healthy. this team is UNREAL on paper... and i dont see how they can fail... this will be the best team to watch as well now that J-Will is on the squad.. mannnnn the Heat are going to wipe out the league... Spurs will give them a challenge in the Finals but i dont see them handling this dream team.
I don't think this is what Miami needed. They were one series away from going to the NBA Finals, that team had chemistry together and they all understood that this was Shaq and Wades team. All Miami needed this off-season was to re-sign Damon Jones and to get a decent shooter such as Kyle Korver rather then an overrated player in Jason Williams. Also this doesn't go well for the future of Dorell Wright or Andre Emmett. Both players show some promise and will not be able to start for another two or three years at least. Miami would probably put Walker at small forward so their lineup would look more like this: PG - Jason Williams SG - Dwyane Wade SF - Antoine Walker PF - Udonis Haslem C - Shaq A good lineup on paper, but I am not sure how the chemistry will work out. It worked with Pierce and Walker last season but will it work with Wade, Shaq, and Walker?
I have been waiting until it was all said and done before I commented but now that's it is official I have mixed feelings. I think we are improving at the point guard and small forward positions because Jason Williams and James Posey and both great perimeter shooters who are good all around players. Williams is also a great passer and Posey is a shut down defender. With these two players add to our lineup I have a feeling we will be a great team. Here is where my happiness stops. Antoine Walker isn't the type of player we need on this team. He is a decent rebounder but lacks interior defense. I would much rather see Udonis Haslem on the court because he is more consistent and compliments Shaq and Wade nicely. Another problem with Walker is that he will take minutes away from Wayne Simien. Now that Udonis will be the second option off the bench, Simien is going to spending majority of his rookie season watching from the sideline. Now that we added three more scorers into the lineup, it is going to be interesting to see how we will spread the ball and keep everyone happy.

Posey is a good outside shooter, not great either, but he is good. I don't like the outside shooters too well outside of Posey. Walker and J-Will are high volume low percentage outside shooters who are far from consistent.

For some reason I thought Williams was a better shooter.
I think the big thing is that Miami loses a great leader in Eddie Jones and I don't think anyone that we brought in is going to be as much of a leader for this team as he was. I think Toine will have a higher 3point% because he will get a lot of open looks with Shaq around. Williams and Wade should be an impressive duo and will give us a run and gun part of our game. Haslem will also play well with Williams and another thing here is that Miami is preparing for Shaq down years by getting players who can still take them far without all the help from Shaq.

You don't know if he'll start out 5-5 (2-2 from 3) in the first quarter like he did against the Suns or if he'll start out shooting 2-11 (1-8 from 3) like he did against Philadelphia earlier in the year. I wouldn't go as far to say he's overrated as a player like C.K. did though. You'll have some groupie fans from his streetball days, but outside of them, most people tend to underrate Jason Williams. Most people think he plays out of control and is not the kind of Point Guard that can lead a team, which is far from the truth. No one really knows how he'll play when he's away from Hubie and Fratello's strict discipline, but he's a much different person than he was four years ago when he played for the Kings.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Accord:</div><div class="quote_post">That's what they said about the 2003-04 Lakers. I hate the deal. The Heat were 1 game away from going to the NBA Finals and if Shaq was 100% and Wade actually had some heart instead of sitting out, we would have been in the Finals guaran-damn-teed. No sense in messing up the entire team like this, frankly I think Riley is just making this deal to make a deal, since he can't coach, he's just doing it so he can feel important and be able to take credit for the team if we do actually win the whole thing. Bring me Lamar Odom! /rant *PUTS ON FLAME SUIT*</div> Everyone's gotta realize that the 03-04 Lakers weren't bad at all. They were just overrated and hyped to a HUGE extent, which led to dissapointment. The team bombed during the regular season because of injury after injury after injury after injury. But hey, the team made the Finals didn't they? Of course if they had better chemistry they would've been championship bound, but that shouldn't take away from the fact that they were actually a good team and played well in the post-season. I actually don't know what to say about the trade. James Posey is solid. He can score and defend at a fairly good level. I'd rather have Damon Jones then J-Will, as he's a better shooter and he turns the ball over less. But then again, if Wade is handling the ball most of the time, won't J-Will turn the ball over less and get more open shots? I guess we'll see. My main concern is Antoine Walker, though. He did help the C's a bit last season, but he still hovers around the perimeter too often and he turns the ball over at an insanely high rate for a forward. (Wade ranks 2nd in TOPG, but he's a much more effective player than him. Compare their PER's.) Hopefully playing with the likes of Shaq and Wade can improve his play. I guess we'll have to see what happens when the season starts.

People criticize Jwill for being a chucker which is a valid arguement, but it's not like he can't score. He can light people up for 25 on some nights so give him a break.
The way I see it, either Walker or Posey will start at SF depending on the matchups. Walker can play both forward positions, and Posey can play SF/SG so he can give Wade some rest (which he needed last season) and Walker can move to the 4 and Haslem to the 5 on some occasions when Shaq sits out (don't think Zo is coming back).
Zo will probably come back with this new team becaus eit is improved. NO way Haslem will play the 5 with Earl Barron in there or Simien may get some minutes tehre as well. Good point aobut Posey but he will most likely be the starter unless he gets injured.
I think the fact that toine can always be found on the perimeter is a good thing. That's what the heat want, they want to stretch the defense so that there is more room for shaq and especially wade to work. So i wouldn't see that characteristic of toine as a negative. Hopefully though as long as he can hit those open looks, likewise for jwill, the heat's half court offense won't dramatically change. I'm more worried about chemistry and teamwork. If the heat get those down then i don't doubt a championship.
I just dont get it. Are they trying to do a run and gun offense now with Shaq in there? They got good open court players, but are any of them really good in halfcourt sets? Shaq will really slow down the run and gun a lot. I think this team will be overhyped(already is). They are great on paper, but that's why you play the games.
i dont think this will work out. there are way too many offensive minded players and there are not enough shots to go around. The oly way it will work is if pat riley comes back and coach which i think he wants to do
