<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI -- In the largest trade in NBA history, Antoine Walker was dealt from Boston to Miami on Tuesday night in a transaction involving five teams and 13 players.

The Heat also acquired point guard Jason Williams and small forward James Posey from Memphis, while the Grizzlies received guard Eddie Jones from the Heat. The New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz were also involved in the deal.

The trade was larger than a 12-player, four-team deal in 2000 involving Patrick Ewing that had been the biggest in league history.

Miami also received Andre Emmett from Memphis and the draft rights to Roberto Duenas of Spain from the Hornets; Utah received Greg Ostertag from Memphis; Boston picked up Curtis Borchardt from Utah and a package -- Qyntel Woods, the draft rights to Spanish center Albert Miralles, two second-round draft picks and cash -- from Miami; New Orleans acquired Rasual Butler from Miami and Kirk Snyder from Utah; and the Grizzlies received guard Raul Lopez from the Jazz.

Hours after signing Shaquille O'Neal to a five-year deal, the Heat added three significant pieces to a roster that nearly reached the NBA Finals last season.

"We traded a lot, but we got back three quality players," said Heat president Pat Riley. "Antoine Walker is one of the very best multi-faceted, versatile players in this game. ... He is able to handle the ball, pass it, make plays, shoot 3's and rebound the ball. There isn't anyone in this league better at doing that."</div> Source (ESPN)

Wow, so the Griz gave up JWill and Posey and Emmett and get Eddie Jones and Raul Lopez in return? I dont know how good that is. Eddies gettin older, and Lopez isnt a true starting point. are they about to trade one of the big men for a point? or re sign watson? that team had so mcuh depth and now its all going away.

Damn, The Heat is just getting better and better. Detroit and Indy better watch out. I wish Mitch Kupchake was a better GM like Riley.

holy crap heat should have an even better year. As long as walker doesn't jack up too many 3's.

Wow, the Grizz are pretty stupid. Seriously, they got nothing in return. The Heat are going to be a force but I still don't think they could win it all. They have on paper the best lineup if this goes through, but I'm not sure if they could all gel together. I can't see Shaq, Wade and Walker each getting 20+ points a night. Someone will decline in their team.

Wow this trade was a real blockbuster deal. Miami is going to be a huge force with the newly acquired players.

    PG - Jason Williams
    SG - Dwayne Wade
    SF - Antoine Walker
    PF - Udonis Haslem
    C - Shaquille O'Neal

Thats an amazing lineup and hopefully no egos clash to ruin this whole thing up - and since they're playing with Shaq, he'll still be counted on to lead the team.

Damon Jones is overlooked big time in that Miami squad. Last year, if it wasn't for his constant 3 point shooting, Miami would have lost at least 10 extra games.

I still don't get what the hornets gave up... all I see is Robert Duenas, but maybe they sent the picks as well, then it would make sense.

This is just totally lopsided for the Heat, I can't believe this went trhough. Voodoo child you believe now?

Walker will come off the bench and put up around 12 a night. I see them matching up very well against the Spurs this year.

Walker will not Start! Posey is the logical choice because of our defensive needs.

Okay -- either way it's still a dangerous lineup.

I think the same thing (though maybe not quite 10 games), Damnon Jones was huge in punishing guys if they left to double team Shaq or Wade. J-Will and Posey can hit the three though just not nearly as good as Damon Jones and Eddie Jones.

wow, miami have alot of depth in their team now, if theres any time for a championship, its now, while shaq is still dominating, and i think its very realistic that they will be contenders.

crazy deal.. but in this article it says they will start Walker at the 3.. that doesnt sound very smart.. but either way this team is gonna be a force

i still dont understand why memphis would do this
maybe jerry west just wants to see shaq win a championship

BIT LOB SIDED DONT YA THINK?????
Huge trade and miami now has soo much fire power it aint funny!
    Take a look at this:

    <u>2004-05 ROSTER STATUS</u>

    NBA DRAFT
    Wayne Simien (29)

    Udonis Haslem (re-signed)

    TRADES
    Antoine Walker (Boston)
    Jason Williams (Memphis)
    James Posey (Memphis)
    Andre Emmett (Memphis)
    Roberto Duenas (New Orleans)

    <u>PLAYERS LOST</u>
    FREE AGENTS
    Keyon Dooling (Orlando)

    GUARDS
    Jason Williams, Dwyane Wade
    FORWARDS
Udonis Haslem, James Posey or Antoine Walker

i can already see the game plan. have all these 3 point shooters in the corners. have da big man in the middle and dwayne wade takin it one on one to da hole with shaq to follow up anything that goes astray! lol its crazy but it might work! but im sure shaq can manage 30 even in his later years!

Miami is going to be flat out sick...posey is better coming off the bench, expect him 2.
Walker will start SF and Haslem did a great job cleanin' up down low last year for the big man. This is a championship team but I dont think they can win it.

I'm not as easily won over by this trade making Miami a juggernaut. They had alot of success last season and now they change the dimension of the team. Just because you add a bunch of names doesn't make you better. Look at Portland a few years back, or when the Rockets had Barkley, Pippen, and Hakeem. I personally don't think this deal is good. Shaq and Wade with the Jones boys from outside was just fine. Now you get rid of a fan favorite for a guy people still believes should be in Boston, and a couple of other notables. I hope they can keep their chemistry positive.
