<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">MIAMI -- In the largest trade in NBA history, Antoine Walker was dealt from Boston to Miami on Tuesday night in a transaction involving five teams and 13 players.

The Heat also acquired point guard Jason Williams and small forward James Posey from Memphis, while the Grizzlies received guard Eddie Jones from the Heat. The New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz were also involved in the deal.</div>

    Grizzlies Trade:
    Curtis Borchardt
    Kirk Snyder
    James Posey
    Jason Williams
    Andre Emmett

    Grizzlies Receive:
    Eddie Jones

I've already voiced my opinion on this. We should have been able to get Jones for only Jason Williams, and there was no reason to drag players like James Posey into it. This gives the Heat the edge for the title and kind of puts us back into rebuilding mode.

    Thoughts?

I believe the correct term for this situation is "Twardzicked".

I don't get it, the article states that the Grizzlies trade Jason Williams, James Posey, Andre Emmett and Greg Ostertag (newly aquired from Sacramento together with Bobby Jackson in exchange for Bonzi Wells) for Eddie Jones and Raul Lopez.

Snyder and Borchardt are coming from Utah.

    Or did I miss something?

You beat me to it, my sentiments exactly.

The door just got kicked wide open for a new team to make it in the playoffs out west. My preference is the Lakers.

That's strange, my preference is anyone but the lakers, but who's counting?

Just kidding, I think I got all the enjoyment I could out of last year, watching Kobe get his comeupance, but I do believe that team is hideously good for the league, as evidenced even by their tremendous following here on JBB. Ironic you should mention the Lakers in this particular thread (mind the title won't you), but they do need, for any number of reasons, to get right back where they started with Phil and do some growing. It will be interesting to see how Phil manages with only one proven superstar in town, I don't think I've ever seen him coach a team with such a lack of talent. And when I say lack of talent, it's really an overstatement, only because they don't have that second show-stopper, like Phil is used to.

(STROKE)......... I am now siding with Voodoo! Jerry West should be kicked directly in the balls!!!!!!! Even the hornets got something out of this we got an aging Eddie Jones...Wow! Maybe we can win 28-30 games next year! Thats if everyone stays healthy!

Everyone needs to stop with the "pulled a Babcock" crap. Drafting one player...one...who didnt work out in his first year...but still could DOES NOT MAKE HIM WORTHY OF THIS AMOUNT OF RIDICULE. Trading away a pouter who wasnt going to try and his value was only getting worse, for help in the salary cap + 2 first round picks(Joey Graham so far) is not THAT bad of a trade. Oh sure you look at how Vince did afterwards with the Nets but Vince wasnt ever gunna do that again with the Raps, he was just going to keep jacking up crappy shots and sitting out fourth quarters.
And Lastly, there is NOTHING wrong with the Charlie draft choice...9/10 of you wouldnt even comment on it as being bad if it werent for ESPN hacks.
    End rant.

I should mention that the Grizz also got Raul Lopez...though it doesnt change the fact that this is a really really lobsided deal. This is the worst trade i've heard of in a while. In recent memory its ranking up there with the T-mac trade, the Mobley for Christie trade, and the Nazr for Malik and David Lee trade.

Snyder's going to New Orleans and Borchardt's going to Boston. I'm not sure, but they might have been in the Bobby Jackson/Bonzi Wells trade. If they weren't Voodoo must have messed up or something.

Anyways, I really feel for Grizzlies fans now. They traded two important players to the team and a bunch of fillers consisting of veterans and young guys a like for a declining guard that screws up their rotation. Although Williams was definitely going to be traded, there was no need to add in Posey and all those fillers. Like Voodoo said, just Williams would have done it. Plus, they already have a stable two and three with Miller and Battier. Doesn't make any sense to me. Currently, I'm thinking that West is the dumbest GM right now.

You don't always have to come protect Babcock lol, he sucks anyways [IMG]

The Grizzlies didn't seem like they were planning on getting anything back in this deal. An older player in Eddie Jones, and Raul Lopez? [IMG]

I wonder if they're planning on bringing Earl Watson back now, because they do need a starting PG. I can somewhat see what West is trying to do, in that he's trying to make the team less stacked in talent, and a better overall team, but this is a bad start.

I am happy as a Miami Heat fan but I still have no idea what Jerry West was thinking. Eddie Jones is an aging small forward and he traded James Posey and Jason Williams who are both in their primes for him. He also gave up young players like Kirk Snyder and Curtis Borchardt. To give that much for a player who is almost 34 is insane.
