The Lakers have signed William "SMUSH" Parker. Smush played for Detroit and Phoenix last season then moved to the NBDL and averaged 10.9 points and 3.4 assists in 27.0 minutes in the 2005 Lakers Summer Pro League. I'm quite sure he will be coming off the bench as the Lakers still have no guard who can play starting point guard to my knowledge. He's 6'4" and can make plays so he'll be a nice backup. Point Guard Tierre Brown future also seems unclear as he remains a free agent.
yeah...smush is good..he has that NY flavor in his game..only thing is he's kinda lazy i would guess..cause dude could be a starter if he worked hard
im glad we signed him. he could be a great backup for us at the point. but if he starts......then i think we are in trouble.
The thing about Parker is that he has a very lanky body. His arms are crazy long, and he's a very good athlete. The talent has always been there for him, but he just hasn't ever been able to put it together. I know everywhere he's gone (spurs, cavs etc..), there has been optimism about him when he intially comes in, but he always seems to disappoint thereafter.. He played well for the Lakers in summerleague, but I'm getting that sense of "here we go again with Smush getting everyone's hopes up." While I love his talent, I have serious doubts on whether he can really contribue to this team. Maybe the Lakers get lucky and Parker finally matures into his potiential (and tweaks his jumper)... but as much as I hope, I wouldn't count on it.
