Ive heard nothing but good about him. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...id=969907729483 Pape Sow is a poor mans ben wallace in the making so im happy bout that too
That's good, we needed to resign Pape to see how he is going to pan out, and we really need Calderon... badly after losing Roko Ukic to Europe. This is big time, and at least helps us a bit for next season.
Well, its finally official which is great news for the Raptors. Now hopefully we can score either Luke Jackson or Matt Bonner.
well...it's better than nothing but i want ukic more...cant wait till he gets to the league any chance of getting omar cook back?
^^ i dont think Omar is worth it, unless we make a trade and a roster spot opens up. Good to see PAPEDaddy back, and calderon. but i'm still skeptical on this dude! but im pleased we actually did something this offseason.
Is this Calderon guy who people say he'll keep looking to setup other people and sometimes might not take a shot during the entire game? I hope he is, because it'll be a nice change compared to Alston's game. Also glad we re-signed Sow, he is going to be a key bench play this year. BTW, Omar Cook will probably be the 3rd PG on the team. We can't go into camp having 2 PG's like last year. Injuries/Suspensions (Alston) happen and Omar Cook would be a great 3rd PG. Now all Toronto has to do is get Luke Jackson in a Raps uniform and sign Bonner for the right price.
Well its some relief that we managed to get Calderon to replace Ukic at this point. Maybe in the future we might end up keeping both, who knows. Re-signing Pape was definitely a solid move.

I've also heard that the raps are trying to get Travis Best from the Nets - the possibility of Palacio for Best. I think this would be awesome, since Best and Rose played together back in Pacers day. I'm really optimistic to see Sow mature...he's got toughness and if he turns out to be another Ben Wallace, as quoted by someone before...then, it'll be good for the future of the franchise. I've never seen Luke Jackson play, but he's amazing in ESPN 2K5..hehe, so I guess he was worth the 4th pick in the first round. Hopefully, the Raps can get a hold of him. Bonner has to be re-signed...he's become one of the crowd faves...sorta like the new JYD...if we lose him, i'll be very very sad...and will probably blow my load all over Babcock all year long.

Here is a little bit of info from ESPN regarding Calderon's past. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Toronto Raptors: Spanish point guard Jose Calderon signed. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Calderon spent the previous six seasons in the Spanish pro leagues, and the last four with the club team Tau Ceramica. He led Tau to a second-place finish in last season's Euroleague Final Four. "He is exactly what we are looking for in a true point guard," Raptors GM Rob Babcock said. "Even though he won't turn 24 years old until September, he has plenty of experience in international competition." Calderon, who played for Spain in the 2004 Olympic Games, has averaged 10.9 points on 54.1 percent shooting over 214 games.</div> He sounds like has been really solid, and is only 24. Maybe Ukic will develop in Tau really well as well. Espn.com - bottom of the page
Well, I heard he doesn't shoot much, but man when he does, his shooting numbers look like he's a sniper.
hey folks! im from spain i've seen calderon for a long time and surely is one of the top european PG. i would say that after sarunas jasikevicius (just signed for indiana) he's the best. good ball handling, good shot, decent defense, he has the body and the most important thing, he is a true Pg who makes everybody better. after pau gasol, maybe now he's the best spanish player. i would say, he's better than rafer overall. rafer is more a scorer and calderon a director. i really want him to succeed, so we'll see be sure that you got a very good player
