This would be good, and definitely be a nice 3 point threat off the bench.

Plus, he be the bomb on the 6ers in NBA Live, wink!

Great find BKS. But Walta? I don't know, that's a hard one. He's not exactly what we are looking for (big physical guy), but he does have some size (height) and he is a 3pt threat. But again, he's just not what we're looking for, but even if he's not what we are in need for he's still decent, so maybe he wouldn't be that bad. But if anything if we are going to sign him we would have to use the LLE and save the MLE for a guy like Davis, Evans etc. Hopefully if he signs with the 76ers I could chant the famous "I LOVE WALTA" chant, I always wanted to yell that out. i agree with avery. i dont think walter is the type of player that we really need. but if we can get im cheap, why not? he can provide scoring off the bench.

I don't like this one, Walter hasn't had one great season in the NBA and I don't see him being the missing piece to the puzzle in our championship plans. For the money we would give McCarty I would give that money to, recently waived, Derek Anderson. He would be the perfect player to step in for a season or two while Willie recovers plus he isn't half bad. Give Anderson the mid level or the 1.7 million dollar deal and let's get this season started!

Yeah, he is ok maybe we could use the LLE on him. Better him then Laettneer or something.

He's better than half the guys that King was looking at in the other article. Better than Decleriq, Laettner, and Potapenko- still, thats not saying much. If we can get him cheap, I would go for it but then we would lose some of the LLE or whatever to get a player that would have a bigger impact. The only thing he's really good at his three point shooting, and currently, that isn't a necessity for us now.

Here is a article that was released today.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Add Walter McCarty to the list of veteran free agents contacted by the 76ers.

The 6-10 McCarty, 31, finished last season with Phoenix after seven-plus seasons in Boston.

"They've called, and there is interest, but like a lot of teams they're waiting to see which players might become available through amnesty," said Michael Higgins, McCarty's agent.

Billy King, the Sixers' president/general manager, confirmed the contact.

The amnesty clause provides a onetime opportunity by Aug. 15 for a team to waive a player and avoid paying a luxury tax on the player's contract. The player would be paid the full value of the contract, and it would continue to count against the team's salary cap.

A first-round draft choice of New York in 1996, McCarty holds career averages of 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds. He is regarded as a helpful defender, three-point shooter and team-oriented player.</div>

A 6-10 unathletic powerforward filling in for the small forward position? I'll pass. I doubt he is quick enough to guard small forwards. Thats just my two cents.
