Looks like the Blazers have released Nick the quick and derek anderson
( heard it on Hoopchronicles.com and ESPN NEWS a few Minutes ago.) Maybe both will come to LA? Lakers need both.

Thanks for the information, this is great news because Derek Anderson has expressed interest playing for the Lakers and he would be the prototypical big guard to play in the Triangle. Hopefully he's our next Ron Harper, Brian Shaw esque player.

Big break for the Lakers. It looked like they were going to head into the season without a starting PG. However, the Lakers arn't the only ones courting Anderson, and nothing is certain.

Anderson AND Van Exel coming here would be good for LA. I don't know if it's possible but maybe NVE wants to come back to LA before he retires...he used to be my favorite player back when he was a Laker. And I don't think he'd be that bad of an influence...

But I do remember when he headbutted a referee when he was a Laker haha. He did some crazy stuff, I can't remember them...

/I think hes matured...maybe not, but there's a chance. It doesn't really matter, though, because I heard he wants to head to San Antonio or Miami.

I don't know much about Derek Anderson, I've heard he has attitude problems? Is that true.

I do know that he is a big combo guard, something Phil Jackson likes. If the thing about his attitude is true...if he can push that aside and mesh with the Lakers, we can be pretty good next year I think.

Hey man, DA's rumours about chemistry etc... are just like Kwame Brown. If we are willing to give Kwame a home, why not DA? Add NVE to that and we will be the team of misfits full of headcases and troubled people. You can't help but love that, especially if us and our headcases go far and pull out some upsets.

Where did I say I didn't want to give DA a chance? I said I didn't know much about him. I'm all for giving him a chance.

Why are you getting defensive, I wasn't claiming you said anything. You need to relax. I'm responding to other people aswell. I was just generally stating something because I've read other people say things about DA.

I thought you were talking to me, that simple. It was a misunderstanding. My post was right above yours. I was inquiring about Derek Anderson's attitude problems, and you go and post something...and I misunderstood it. That simple, lets not blow this out of proportion.

If Derek Anderson has attitude problems then Shaq doesn't have a big ego. It's simply not true. DA's was the most selfless player on the blazers these past few years. It's true has he a history of being injured but he'd fit great in the Lakers system.

Every player in the NBA has attitude problems, it's just a matter of what you want to believe and what the media wants you to believe. If a guy speaks out about his teammates, he can be looked upon as a leader or a troublemaker, depending on the spin you want to put on it. If a guy is a quite, he can be looked on as a team player, or a guy who is not aggressive enough and needs to be more vocal.

Does DA have some baggage, sure he does, but so does everyone else in the NBA. The great thing about a player with baggage, is Phil Jackson uses that as a motivation for them to change their image. Look at all the headcases & egos he's coached over the years, Dennis Rodman, Bison Dele (R.I.P), Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Shaq O'neal, Kobe Bryant, compared to that group DA is a saint.

The way NVE left L.A, there is no way he's coming back ... there is still some animosity between he and the club. In addition, he doesn't exactly fit the mold of a defensive minded PG that we need so badly.

As far as DA, I think he would be a solid pickup. However, I dont think he will be able to handle the point fulltime. The Lakers will still need to invest some of that money into a true PG who can defend the position. Right now, the closest thing we have to a "true" PG is Smush Parker, and there's no guarentee he even makes the team.

Notmuchgame I agree with you, and thats why I say bring in Tyronn Lue and alternate between those two. One is the bigger athletic gaurd who can shoot the three (DA) and the other has the defense that PJ likes. Alternate between those two and the lakers should be fine.
