Last season i was rooting for the heat, they were only 2 injuries away from probably winning the championship. If a few mishaps didn't occur to shaq and wade at the end of the season they probably would have won...now instead of maybe getting a good role player to compliment a team that would have certainly got to the finals, the bras instead have totally turned the heat into some other team that has no built in chemistry aside from shaq and wade. the fact is the heat needed a slight tweaking and they got a total overhaul.
They did have a good thing going, but the Heat needed more depth and a better overall team. They upgraded at the PG posistion and at the SF spot. Jones doesn't seem to be most effective at the 3 so they went out and acquired a better player IMO, in James Posey who's better defensively and can also score. They also added scoring depth with Antoine Walker. Although I didn't want the Heat to acquire him, it does allow the Heat to give teams differnet looks with the scoring Walker at the 4 and the rebounding, inside beast in a Haslem.
Those two injuries weren't just unlucky. They were the result of having a team that completely depended on two players. I think the management realized that problem when they saw the team constantly feed the ball to Shaq without Wade. This trade changes the look of the Heat, but for the better. After the Shaq trade, Miami had one glaring weakness: the lack of depth. This trade essentially deals with that problem without giving up anything that they don't gain back.
Yes they were amazing last year and if they wouldve won one more game probably would have won the title, but last year was a perfect example of why we need another scorer..because now if wade or shaq get injured J-Will or Walker would be more then happy to do the scoring.
They had a great thing last season, but nontheless it doesnt matter the Heat are now better than they were last season. And have a better shot at a title this year

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Lamont:</div><div class="quote_post">Do you honestly believe if shaq and wade get injured this year the heat can still win the championship come on...</div> Its not that they can replace Shaq and Wade. Its that they take some of the responsibility off of them during the regular season so that they don't burnout during the playoffs. Also, it makes a less predictable offense when you've got so many options.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting R_ChutneY:</div><div class="quote_post"> Also, it makes a less predictable offense when you've got so many options.</div> In response to that, who said a predictable offense is a bad thing. see:spurs.
I agree with everyone hear but Lamont. We had a terrific thing goinbg for us least year, but when Shaq and Wade got injured, it really showed our lack of depth. Now Walker will most likely be the 6 man because Posey will start for defense. It's an upgrade at every position.
I already said this and I will say it again. The Heat were a second tier team last season and were on the same level as the Pistons and Suns. With this trade, the Heat become one of the best teams in the league. With talent at every positon and a deep bench, the Heat are on a level with only the Spurs and now have an excellent chance at winning the title. A lot of people are saying Walker and Williams can't share the ball but they will learn when they realize how close they are to winning their first championships
IMO, the heat were a great team last season, this season, with the upgrades, they're even better. if wade or shaq goes down, they have a lot more other people who can pick up the slack. the heat killed this trade.
All this "if not for injuries they probably would have won the title" talk is silly. As if its a given that they wouldve beaten San Antonio. Eddie Jones is getting old and Damon Jones is as one dimensional as it gets.So the heat replaced them with upgrades.
