<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird distanced himself from the prevailing assumption that the team will release Austin Croshere under the NBA's amnesty provision. Teams have until Aug. 15 to waive a player to avoid or lessen their luxury tax penalty, although they still must pay the player his salary. A waived player can then sign with another team and receive the salary of both contracts. Croshere has been mentioned as a possible amnesty "victim" because he will receive $15 million over the next two seasons and might not find a place in the regular playing rotation unless injuries create opportunity. Bird, however, is reluctant to release the eight-year veteran who has been valuable as a reserve forward and fill-in starter. "He's an asset," Bird said. "If we didn't keep Austin, and Jonathan (Bender's) knee isn't healthy, we'd be in a bind. You've got to do what's best for the team." Another option for the Pacers is to waive Reggie Miller, who has retired but will be paid $6 million next season.</div> Source
Thats a good question where has croshere been??? I remember he was a stud in the playoffs one year and got a massive contract and then dissapered.
Croshere is a good backup for the Pacers, but if he`s flagged with injuries, I`d let him go, just to clear some things up.
