<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The self-proclaimed best point guard in the NBA may soon lose his position. Stephon Marbury, making his first public appearance since Larry Brown was hired to coach the Knicks, said yesterday it is a real possibility that Brown will move him to shooting guard.

"He told me years ago, 'If I ever coached you, I'd put you at the two because you're a two-guard,"' Marbury told reporters at his summer basketball camp in Manhattan. "If I play the two, whew, it's going to be kind of scary. Because now I can shoot whenever I want to shoot."
That is scary. But it's also interesting and jibes with what Brown did in Philadelphia when he switched Allen Iverson to the two and brought in Eric Snow to handle the ball. If he makes the switch in New York, Brown would likely use Jamal Crawford and rookie Nate Robinson at the point. Marbury actually believes the switch would make him more of a playmaker because he'll be playing behind the defense instead of bringing the ball up the court.

Yet it's going to take more than changing positions to change Marbury into the kind of guard who can flourish playing Brown's disciplined style. Though Marbury has claimed that their differences have been overstated, the two didn't exactly see eye to eye when Brown coached him on the Olympic team last summer.

As Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups pointed out at the NBA Finals, playing for Larry Brown is like having dinner with Miss Manners. Although it's not so much fun spending two hours with someone who points out every mistake, in the end, you're the better for it.</div>

i know this is kind of beside the point, but Marbury is really overrated and over-appreciated.i know he did well in phoenix but that was with other guys who are fantastic players (Marion and Stoudamire) he gets to NYK and really cant run anything.Isn't a point gaurds job to make their teammates better players out on the court. Look at JKidd when Kenyon martin was there, he made him an Allstar, now look at him.He hasn't got anyright to go on about being the best PG in the L. We know and so does he, that he is nowhere near. Anyway, Marbury at the 2 would be a bad move.QRich is alot better than marbury would be at the two, but that is based on last seasons results. If they bring in someone like Snow at point then get rid of marbury to a team like the hawks (who desperatly need a PG) and try get someone like Al Harrington and a SF/SG like Childress.

I completely agree with the above statements. Crawford and Q-Rich are better SGs then Marbury will ever be (he lacks consistency). I would suggest getting E.Snow and putting him at the starting PG with Nate and/or Crawford backing him up. Keep Q-rich at the SG and have Crawford or Hardaway (if he's still around) backing him up. Deal Marbury for a Quality big, SF or draft picks. Balance is the key to success.

I completely disagree. 20-8 is overrated? Only the Big-O averaged that in his career. Stoudamire was a rookie and back then their gamestyle was much different. Q-rich will switch at the 2 or 3. Why cant marbury play the 2? AI did it and Marbury's taller and stronger. Marbury can score at the 2 and he will. Steph isnt going anywhere. He's the hometown kid and theyre building around him. 2 players like that would make the Cap even higher. I personally want Watson or Snow. Robinson doesnt have any experience yet. How does marbury lack consistency? the points he scores depends on how the game is going? Marbury passed the ball alot last year. But when his teammates could'nt score he stepped up. Please dont bash Marbury especially if he does average 20-8. I think we see a different marbury this year. After all he is the best PG.
