Apparently somebody(at CL) heard on one of the local radio stations(570) that Kareem Abdul Jabbar is going to coach Bynum and Kwame Brown. If its true, its good to hear that all the legends are backing our team 100% and are all giving back to make this the franchise that it once was. He'll have alot of knowledge that could help against some of NBA players today.
I know Kareem was taught by the great John Wooden, so he may have some valuable things to pass down to our centers... However, I'm not exactly sure if Kareem is a good teacher. I mean, there must be a really good reason why Kareem has been actively persuing a coaching job for years and can't even land an assistant position. I don't know that reason for sure, but you have to wonder...
^to add to that, didn't Kareem coach Olowokandi a few years back? It certainly didn't help him one bit, but then not many people can help Kandi..
This would be outstanding if Capt Kareem was coaching these two guys. Alot of centers today are very very sloppy (yao, bradley, ostertag, etc.) and learning from the greatest player of all time will help Brown and Bynum to be finese with the ball and get them some discipline
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Lakers are talking to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar about hiring him to tutor their big men. A Laker official on Wednesday confirmed the team's interest. Abdul-Jabbar's agent, Harlan Werner, confirmed Abdul-Jabbar's interest. "There was a meeting," Werner said. "There has been dialogue with Phil [Jackson] and Mitch [Kupchak]. Aside from that, it's premature to say anything at this point. ? "I think if everything works out, it would be a dream come true for Kareem." Abdul-Jabbar tutored Laker big men Vlade Divac and Elden Campbell in the early 1990s and worked with the Clippers' Michael Olowokandi at the end of the 1999-2000 season. He also worked recently as a scout for the New York Knicks. With the Lakers, his primary assignment would be Andrew Bynum, the 17-year-old seven-footer the team drafted out of St. Joseph's High in Metuchen, N.J.</div> <div align="center">Source</div>

Can you see it happening now? Anyway, this should be a sure thing now as I don't think we will worry about competing with other teams for Kareem.
This is great and all but how are Kareems handles these days? I think we have the coaching situation down pat, but we sure do need a point gaurd...
(love them smilies) I think this would be great, if Bynum can learn from such a legend at an early age he could become a great player.

That must be one of the worst idea's I have ever heard, ever. It will never happen, well maybe. If there was enough money involved for him to buy all the food in the world then maybe.

Firstly, Shaq won't forgive the "Lakers" until his old age. Even if he does, he won't retire for about 3 years and if he "forgives" us, it doesn't mean that we will forgive him. I don't think the "old man" will ever let him near the club again.
