There has been enough rivalry between the Rockets and Mavericks over the last season. Here's another prize they may battle it out for: Nick Van Exel.
I heard that the front runners to get him are us, Lakers, and Mavs.

NVE has already expressed that he wants to go back to Texas so it leaves the Rocks and Mavs. The Rocks can offer him more playing time than the Mavs, but Nick has played for the Mavs before, and they loved him while he was there.

I know there is already a Van Exel thread out there, but I think this one is more dedicated to the Rox vs Mavs thing. Trying to leave bias out of it, where do you think he is more likely to go?

I want to beat the Maverick so bad!!! I won't lie about it. Even though the Spurs are the champs, I still can't get over the fact that Dallas beat us. If we get Nick the Quick, I want him to punish the Mavs everytime we play them. I'm talkin about one of those 35pt games he puts up every once in awhile.

true that..its funny how Little D "thinks" they are the next best team in the lone star state after San Antonio when they are one of the many teams who never taste gold in their franchise history..**** never even went past the second round (correct me if Im wrong)...seriously, till Dallas have something to show, the TX rivalry is still between us and the champs (SA 3, HOU 2 [IMG] )

    ROX - playoffs: [IMG]
    ROX - 2nd round: [IMG]
ROX - 2 the ship: [IMG]

    DAL - playoffs: [IMG]
    DAL - 2nd round: [IMG]

and I have this feeling that Nick is gona jump in our bandwagon...he wants to be a winner [IMG]

Well Dallas did make it to the conference finals a few years back, but that was because Chris Webber was injured.......but with or without Van Exel, I think we're a better team than Dallas this year.

LoL it just sucks that DAL beat us in the last playoffs. No matter how much better we are, they will give us crap about that until we pulverize them 4-0 hehehhe.

    But until then...

This is going to be the Mavs new rivalry for sure seeing that the Kings IMO are falling off. Cant wait for another awesome series. Dallas wins 4-0

It'll be pretty difficult to see how this 'rivalry' will play out in the future as it has only spanned 7 games up to now. If every Rockets-Mavs game in the regular season can be as exciting as most of the playoffs series has been, then the rivalry could heat up really bad. I like this potential rivalry between the two teams as we seem to have a competitive situation going, not like the Indiana/Detroit one where almost every player has bad blood with the other team. The Rockets and Mavs duel it out for the win at the end of the game.

Well the all the texas triangle (Hou,Dal,SA) has always had the local rivalry with each other, so you can't really say that this rivalry has been 7 games long. I would just say that the Hou/Dal series highlighted the rivalry, and it has escelated since.

Too bad Nowitzki flops all the time and gets the calls, we may never get to see this event.
