The Sonics, who were hoping to retain the 25-year-old forward, have the option to match the Timberwolves' offer but are unlikely to do so because of the amount of money in the deal.

Wilkins, who averaged 6.3 points in 29 games during his rookie campaign last season and performed admirably in the playoffs in place of injured regulars Rashard Lewis and Vladimir Radmanovic, had also been considering an offer from Portland.</div>

Good to see the T-Wolves active in the offseason. They can get all the aqusitions they can get to get back into the play playoffs.

They're active, but they're not really getting much done. They lock Mark Madsen and Damien Wilkins up for five years; hardly what I'd call a great offseason. They have also yet to address Latrell Sprewell and Sam Cassell. That's not even mentioning that they should be shopping Wally Sczerbiak and probably Kevin Garnett too. If anything, the Timberwolves have had one of the worst offseasons thus far.

Voodoo your right the offseason is slow for the Wolves but they dont have much to work with...they are over the cap...and they only have to legit tradable assets Sam Cassell & Wally S, and both have low stock right now(even after Wally had a decent year teams arent going to give you his value because they are scared to take on his contract with his history).

They have addressed the Sprewell situation, he isnt coming back. That is why they are looking at guys like Wilkins and Mo' Evans. As far as Sammy goes, the deal for Williams fell thru. And I dont think the Wolves are willing to give him up & not get a fairly decent point guard in return(if they are smart). So Sammy probably will stay(and have a nice year, mark my words). But they still wont resign at the end of the 05-06.

They only other moves I see the Wolves making this year is resigning guys like Griffen, Madsen and maybe Thomas. They will keep Cassell and Wally on the block but no one is going to come thru with a serious offer. So toward the end of the offseason they will probably try to ship Hudson out. And add a different point guard into the mix, just for a much needed change up in the backcourt.

The T-Wolves have serious manpower shortage problems. What a shame this team let the fire dwindle. Was it that hard to build around Garnett? It may be a year late now.
They never addressed their point guard and shooting power thoroughly enough to win in May and June. What a waste of potential. Marbury was never mentally prepared or mature enough to leave Atlanta and become a team player. At least in Wilkins they'll get a guy who's thrilled to be in the NBA and living a dream.
