    What the?

Why do people keep comparing him to Shaq? and once he doesn't perform to your "expectations" you'll all be criticizing him for being "overrrated" which is rubbish.

Please people enough with the Shaq-Yao comparison otherwise it'll lead to more haters calling him an "overrated" center which he isn't.

Personally i think Yao internationalized the NBA and now you have people like Bogut and Ginobili and Parker all starting to gain popularity in the NBA.

My bad, I mentioned Amare Stoudemire. I never mentioned Amare eating Yao alive though. I just mentioned him as a way of saying that Yao has a challanger for best center in the future IF Smare stays at C. They could have a good healthy rival between them, and I agree that neither can stop each other at this point of their careers.

Yao and Shaq got differant games so it is hard to say. But stat wise, yao will soon be able to surpass shaq. Yao can actually hit free throws, a 15 footer, and somewhat run the court. I see him surpassing shaq in the next few years. But because their games are so differant, it is pointless to compare, becasue yao will never turn into that dominant guy who lives in the post.

Well... this is a good debatable question will Shaq get better than Yao.

Yao - I think stats wise, Yao will be superior to Shaq(over the next five years), he can put points up on the board as he doesn't need to play inside because of his outside jump shot and his superior height. If he develops his indside skills, something shaq has, he will be more capable to put up bigger numbers. His rebounding will hopefully improve as of recent it's not so great for a 7'5" - 7'6" player. I think if he improves his toughness and overall strength he'll become a better all round player.

Shaq - He will always have those great inside skills and be able to pass well out of double teams...but with the rise of Dwayne Wade and aquisitions of Antoine Walker and Jason Williams Shaq may see less touches. Not neccesarily because they're greedy players but because he may not need to do so much work. This all reducing his stats it may seem that Yao is better but I believe this will be due to statistics.

Right now Yao is not better than shaq there's nothing as of yet to prove that, the point of this thread is not to compare Shaq to Yao skill wise, but if during the remmainder of shaqs career he will be surpassed by Yao.
It's something that happens to all great center's Wilt was late in his career, surpassed by Kareem, Olajuwon was surpassed by shaq and so on...

Shaq was better this season than Yao, and over the next 3 seasons I see him better than Yao. If Duncan is considered purely as a PF, then I think Yao will be the most dominant center for 4 years or so. Presuming that Oden doesn't dominate early in his career.

Amare is shattering offensively, but doesn't have the same defensive presence that Shaq, Duncan and Yoa have.
