What do oyu guys think it's going to take for the Warriors to make the playoffs this year. They definately have the talent, but what else is needed?
I think if they play like they did at the end of last season and they will make it for sure. Getting Baron was huge for them. They need to keep their team healthy and avoid injuries.
Other than Baron staying healthy, I'd say it is Baron continuing to change some of our players' games. Once Baron arrived he got Mike Dunleavy to show some emotion and shoot alot better. Mickael Pietrus suddenly seemed like one of the best sixth men in the league, and Adonal Foyle played almost as good as his contract suggests (6 pts, 8-10 rebs, 2-3 blk). If Baron can keep these guys motivated all year long we can be a 5 seed in the west and we might actually have a few all-stars, a sixth man of the year, and a nice contract coming Dunleavy Jr.'s way. Other factors that arent totally necessary but would definitely be helpful would be Ike working well in the low post and getting to the line a ton, and Andris Biedrins improving offensively and defensively while not comitting so many fouls.
Baron Davis is the core of this team (in my point of view), and he must stay healthy and lead the team on and off the court...
The most important thing is for the Warriors to protect their home court and beat the teams that there are supposed to beat.
Its all about BD if he gets help from JR anything is possible. We all know Davis is heartless on the court and can put a team on his back during any given night, but can richardsons step his game up to another level? in my opinion Baron is not the question mark, its Jason. If Jason steps his game up golden state could sneak into 7th or 8th. i like the idea of golden state with Baron it has the potential to be exciting to watch. GL GS!
I agree I think they need B Diddy to stay healthy and have the other guys contribute as well, mainly JRich. Hopefully Murphy will play a full year and make the playoffs.
I think the Warriors are going to suprise some people next year kind of like how Seattle and Phoenix did last year. I am not talking about a 6-8 seed. I am talking a top 4 seed...
Warriors needs healthy team and specially healthy Baron.Baron i going to bring back this team to PO-s.They have lots on talents to this.
Baron Davis staying healthy and building on last year's second season success will be a major key factor to the Warriors making the playoffs. I also think the Warriors need Ike Diogu or Andris Biedrins to step in and contribute consistently. They need one or both to be able to compete against the athletic power forwards in the NBA.
Hey all New Member here, I'm thinking the Warriors are fine on offense. Their up tempo stlye will be even better this year. The one area where I feel the Warriors really need to improve is on the defensive end. They need stops at the end of games and quarters. Their offense will keep them in most games but defense will bring them to the promised land.
so we have come to the conclusion that Baron staying healthy is going to be the big thing for GS this upcoming year. NOw here's another question. Do oyu see GS moving maybe a guy like Dunleavy or Murphy at the deadline if they do not play up to par?
Welcome Montay to JustBBall's basketball forum. I believe you will enjoy being part of this forum, I know I have, and I believe a lot of other people have as well. I agree with your first post here, about defense. I would like to add free throws to that list as well, that must be a little above the average for this team as a whole. Foyle and Biedrins are horrible at free throws, and players like Baron Davis and Jason Richardson can stand a little improvement in this area as well. Playmaker, I believe that is possible. As with any trade, though, it depends on who exactly is involved in the deal. If the Warriors can deal Murphy or Dunleavy for the better of the team, then that is always good, especially if they are struggling, like you mentioned about this situation. I believe in general, Mike Montgomery finally realizing what players he has on his team and the situations that they strive in and struggle in, and using rotations and subs to put his players in better situations and the best situations will make this team a winner- if there are not many huge injuries. This is one area that I believe Montgomery did poorly last year. I hope that he can improve in that area this year, and challenge and make his players better or just more productive(most important). Anyway, I think this is going to be my last post for 2005. I will be going to New York on Friday morning, then Stockholm, Sweden, on the 18th and will be in Rezekne, Latvia, for the rest of the year until Januray 19th or so. I will try my hardest to follow the Warriors as much as I can there in near the Baltic. And I shall try to make a visit this website here every now and then. I got my (host)brother a Biedrins jersey, hehe. I didn't know a large NBA jersey was so BIG. haha. Anyway, it's been fun posting here. Thanks CustodianRules for advertising this board on ESPN's forum, to get me to post here. And thanks everyone for being awesome Warrior fans. I enjoy talking basketball(and the Warriors of course!) here with you guys. Wow this is taking a little longer than I wished, and it taking away from this thread, so I shall wrap it up and say farewell until 2006 Go Warriors!

BTW Welcome Montay to the JBB Warriors forum. Just curious, but is that handle supposed to be Montay as in Monta(y) Ellis or is it something else?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AKIRA:</div><div class="quote_post">who is the warriors starting Center?</div> Adonal Foyle. No really, I'm not joking it is Adonal Foyle.
Oh man you're a riot, Run BJM. I guess the grass is always greener... We could have a center that's an absolute punk and doesn't play a lick of defense for 4 years. But since we don't, we can all gripe about it. BTW has anyone seen Adonal Foyle dunk with two hands? I don't think I've seen him jump high enough to do so. I remember he missed a few uncontested dunks to some sighs and groans of disgust. I sure hope he gets his hops back because he needs it to do all that rebounding and to flush it more carefully so the ball doesn't end up hitting the rim because he couldn't quite get his wrist over it.
Believe it or not, Adonal's lack of leaping ability helps him be a better player. He has those long arms and it helps him stay home and block more shots without getting caught jumping and getting in foul trouble.
Monta(y) <div class="quote_poster">Quoting custodianrules2:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree. Offense is fine, team defense needs some work. BTW Welcome Montay to the JBB Warriors forum. After downloading two summer league games here I am now a huge Monta Ellis fan. Baby boy got mad skillz.
