Wow isnt it a big upgrade from Caledron? Or even Roko?

It shouldn't be called an 'upgrade' because each of them bring different skillsets. For example, Duhon brings the Duke defense and leadership, while Calderon brings decent D, deadly three-point shooting, and creative passing ability.

It doesn't matter if we get Duhon or not. We still have Jose Juan Barea. [IMG]

What will Toronto do with all these point guards?

The Bulls are targeting Brian Grant, and depending on his contract, it could benefit the Raptors chances of holding on to Duhon. The Bulls just signed Basden, and they have Pargo to consider as well. Also the Bulls have a shot at bringing Jay Williams back, so losing Duhon doesn't look so bad from the Bulls' POV.

MrJ the Raptors will probably put together a package of Alston + Expiring Contracts to get some depth in the frontcourt.

I also expect Jalen Rose to be cut. It was mentioned in the Lakers forum the Raptors are under the luxury tax threshold ($61Million) so cutting Rose doesn't make sense, however here was my response ...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm not sure the Raptors are actually under the luxury tax figure either. On hoopshype.com the projected salary figure for next season is $55,233,170. This does not include Eric Williams, Pape Sow, Jose Manuel Calderon, or Loren Woods. Also the Raptors are going to spend around $3Million to sign Duhon or Bonner. So when you include those contracts, they should be just over the $61Million threshold, putting them in the luxury tax range.</div>

Can anyone verify this for me?

Isn't there a limit to one amnesty use? Because it makes perfect sense for us to waive Alonzo Mourning's buyout'ed contract. We will definitely be under the threshhold by doing that.

Are you allowed to use it on those type of contracts? If so why haven't the Raptors done it already, and why haven't the 76ers waived Jamal Mashburn's or Todd MacCulloch's contract or Boston waiving the remainder of Vin Baker's contract off the books? I have the feeling the player has to be actively on your roster.

Edit: Nevermind I found this ...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">That includes players who are no longer with a team but whose salary still appears on the payroll. One prominent example is Alonzo Mourning, whose contract was bought out by Toronto for an estimated $11 million in March. Mourning has since signed with the Miami Heat, but the Raptors can still make Mourning their amnesty player to avoid paying the luxury tax on what they still owe him.</div>

I dont think Chicago will match the offer, first their trying to sign Brian Grant to a multiyear contract, he'll bring some veteran leadership to a young team. 2nd there is a total of 9 free agents on Chicago that were not supposed to re sign and its looking as if some will, such as Frank Williams and Lawrence Funderburke.

The deal with Pargo is he is supposed to meet with a couple of teams that are intrested with him, I doubt he'll leave Chicago so I see him signing before Paxson matches the offer for Duhon. Paxson was quoted saying he owes the management to see every option throughly. So that means matching the offer for Duhon still has a couple more days.

Babcock wants to have 3 point guards in the Roster. The rest will be on the IR or will not play.

So that means Adubb isn't going to playt his season? Man then I think it's time for him to retire or something, because he cannot come back form that injury. And that also means Omar Cook is gone as well unless we place him in the IR list which I don't think he wants.

Omar Cook will probably play in the Development leagues. Alvins situation doesnt look good either...

shapecity, Mourning's contract will be waived using the amnesty clause, but it will be done on the deadline (the 15th).

Babcock is entering this season as if Alvin isn't going to be available, and that is a good mindset because they will be ready regardless of who's healthy and who's not. Omar Cook will not be on the Raptors roster unless Babcock trades Alston for a SG depth or a frontcourt help.
