That's bull. They don't even make the playoffs, and they still get more tv coverage than any other team.
I agree thats really messed up. Ya they got Lebron and now they have Hughes..but 32 national tv games, i mean theyre not defending champs, matter fact they NEVER make the playoffs(not being a hater just the truth). They might make it this year but theres alot more teams that deserve to be on national tv then the Cavs.
that's absolute BS, I don't care if they have Lebron. They can't make the playoffs in the Eeastern conference! 32 games is to much. Their not even that much of a high profile team like the Heat, Lakers, Kings, or Pacers. Those teams deserve that many games, but not a team like the Cavs.
Its all about the benjamins. They are still banking on the Lebron hype from 2 years back. Nothing against Clevland but Its not about the Cavs its about number 23. Which is sad, because If the Cavs dont win atleast 51% of their televised games (which is not going to be easy) they will be the laughing stock of sports center. Its not fair to the Spurs and its not fair for the cavs but its all business.
I'm going to laugh if LeBron suffers a injury and all those games get low ratings. Honestly, why do they deserve all these games? When was the last time they made the playoffs? The people do love LeBron though...
The NBA has so many statistics, they're in the business of making money, i think they know what they're doing. Hype sells, and LeBron is the "king" of it. Hey, i think he's great i'm not hating on him, or anybody i'm just saying they're tryign to make money. Sucks for all the teams that play real, fundamental basketball. Not money-making these days really. Weak.

Lets keep the best player and the future of the league off tv because he had a bad team last year . According to your theory the NBA should televise all the spurs games because they are the champs. That would be another great move since they're so fun to watch , but hey at least they made the playoffs. Dont diss an insanely smart business decision that the fans want just because you have an unfounded hate for Lebron.

Yeah, thats what they meant, its a franchise record. Last year they got 31 games. I'm sure Miami will get plenty of games too.

VC, AI, Yao, Shaq, Garnett, Tmac and Kobe all had more allstar votes than Lebron so why don't we give them all more coverage? Shaq, Tmac and Marbury's jerseys all sell better than LBJ's. And as far as team jerseys sell, NY, LA, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Philly and Houston all sell better than Cleveland so wouldn't it make sense to give all those teams more coverage. Also, the areas around LA, Miami, Chicago, Philly, Minnesota, Toronto, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Golden State and Washington are far more populated than Cleveland. Why not give them more tv time? Detroit, Dallas, Chicago, Miami and NY also all have higher avg. home attendances, and Miami, LA and Houston all have higher road attendance averages. Another advantage of doing well in the playoffs is picking up more casual fans too, and very successful teams like SA, Detroit and Phoenix have that advantage. If the guys who run ABC, TNT, ESPN and NBATV are so smart, why were their ratings some of the lowest in history this year for NBA games? Networks should maybe use these statistics instead of over-televising over-hyped players, because they desperately need a new strategy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting virve119:</div><div class="quote_post">That's bull. If they actually made the playoffs then this would make a little (not much) sense. But they didn't, so it makes no sense.
I think its basically the league is trying to hype LeBron up into becoming the "new face" of the league. Sort of trying to make him as popular as a MJ type figure in todays world. He already has a crazy support base and the league can hype up somebody more than anybody else. I'm sure the marketing department told David Stern stuff too that effect, and Mr. Stern usually gets his way with things.

In Michael Jordan's second year he didnt lead in voting either-magic did, he also didnt lead the league in jersey sales. Did that keep the league from glorifying him?ANd team jerseys, who wouldnt love to buy a gooden jersey? The nba isnt giving the cavs 32 games, they're giving them to the future. Also would you please explain to me how attendance in one city affects tv viewing throughout the world? Seeing as people didnt watch teh playoffs as you so kindly mentioned, i doubt they picked up many casual fans. I'll tell you what picks up fans: Lebron stealing a ball and taking it all the way to throw it down. You're right about one thing, the networks should use some statistics, like some of lebrons: 1)in his rookie year, Lebron rose average attendance at Gund from 11497 to 18288 - the most in history 2)first player to avg 25, 7 and 7 since MJ in 89 3)takes cavs from 17 wins to 49 wins in rookie year 4)2004 roy 5)2005 all star 6)2006 mvp-bank on it I dont know how the hell you can call lebron overhyped. He has met and exceeded all expectations put on him, despite how high they were. Lebron is the undenyable future of this league and even questioning his greatness is basketball blasphemy. I hope that you can swallow your pride for a second and give this man the credit he deserves and is getting from everyone but you.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post">If they actually made the playoffs then this would make a little (not much) sense. Wow bryce40ww, I can't believe how ridiculously biased you are. To say that Lebron is more popular than guys like AI, Shaq and Yao (not to mention a few others) is outragous. Second of all, don't even compare Lebron to Jordan. He will NEVER be half the player Jordan was, regardless of what they both accomplished at this point in their careers. Yes, in his second year Jordan had a few less votes than just Magic, Lebron was thousands of votes behind a few guys. Jordan also got a college education and came into the league with the daunting task of having to earn everything. Lebron's been overhyped to the point of turning-off some fans, and has had everything handed to him so far. A multi-million dollar contract with Nike before even playing a game, the ROY award despite the fact that Carmelo had equal stats AND his team made the playoffs, and tons of TV coverage without even making the playoffs. Yes, he has put up good stats, but in this league, winning is all that counts, and Lebron, unlike Wade and Anthony, is just not a winner. Everyone is all excited about the Cavs team next year, but any fan with half a brain will tell you that they won't get higher than a sixth seed, and probably will not amke it to round 2. They have absolutely no depth, no pg, and an aging frontcourt that won't last half as long as their contracts. Plus, once they sign Lebron to an extension, and now they've got Ilgauskas for 6 more, their cap will be screwed in the future. I agree with you that David Stern is banking the future of the NBA on Lebron, heck who can't agree, the man even stole the ROY trophy from Melo and gave it to him. But maybe he should have stopped and thought to himself that this kid hasn't made the playoffs, is too proud to go in the dunk contest, is already in the midst of legal issues, and isn't even the best of his class (Wade). But then again, when has David Stern ever made a smart decision involving the NBA, and I can't wait for this one to bite him in the ass. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">so what do you want to watch the spurs and milwaukee 4 times in a year every other team sucks to watch im a cavs fan and let me tell you something there guys 80% of the time are very entertaining not like spurs games when ginobili is hitting himself in the mouth to get calls and sitting at the free throw line for 2 hours of the game... i rather watch lebron and huges on a fast break and lebrons passes.. not "and tim duncan off the glass" lmao and remember the nba makes the tv schedule according to key dates in the season there still gonna show indiana and ny without reggie miller isnt that the reason for all the fuss about those games reggie coming to kill ny again?</div> From what I can actually read of what you said, I disagree. They wouldn't show Milwaukee games, so why did you bring them into this. I'm talking about classic games they should show like Detroit and Indy, Detroit and SA, Dallas and Houston, Phoenix and SA, Miami and Detroit, etc., etc.. Or the good rivalries like NJ and TO, Miami and LA, Boston and Indy etc..

Biased? how? i dont have any personal agenda for supporting lebron, it's merely my opinion that i am stating. And even if i was biased by your standards, you'd fall under the same category because of your hate for lebron. I would also appreciate if you didnt take my posts out of context and change their meanings. I did not say that Lebron was more popular than those guys, i merely pointed out why you might not give them as much coverage as Lebron. Also, nowhere did i say that Lebron would be better than jordan (even though he'll come pretty close). I was using Jordan as an example that even the greatest player of all time didnt live up to the standards for votes and jersey sales that you set for Lebron. Please take the time to fully read and understand what i write before you make strong attacks in your posts. You also claim that Jordan trailed by a few votes to magic, while lebron trailed by thousands. When millions of votes are cast each year, thousands of votes seem like a few to me. If you disagree give us some numbers and links to prove them and back up your argument. Could you also explain to me why lebron will never be equal despite his performance at the same point in his carreer. Since Jordan spent 3 years in college, we should actually be comparing lebron's 3rd year to jordan's rookie but whatever. I think that it is a completely accurate comparison to look at lebrons potential compared to what jordan did and if you disagree give some reasons instead of just saying that lebron wont be as good for no apparent reason. And how did lebron have to work any less hard to succeed in the league than Jordan? If anything he had to work harder because he didnt have the advantage of college to help him adjust. He also had to deal with the pressure of being a number one pick, something jordan didnt have to deal with. You cant say that LBJ's nike contract made it a lot easier because cash is definetley not an issue for a top five pick. And what's this about Lebron having everything handed to him? Like what? dont just make these claims and then provide absolutely no evidence. Lebron worked to become the best at what he does and was rewarded for it. Someone didnt come along and give Lebron the skills and years of hard work that it takes to become the top player in the world. And i dont know about you, but if im nike im not giving lebron all that money just for looking pretty, i'm giving it to him because he has worked to be something special. And while giving him the ROY outright may have been questionable, it is not robbery like you said. A split award would probably have been best, but to say that Lebron stole that award implies that he wasn't even close, and that is wildly incorrect. And once again virve, you dont put a team o T.V. because they made the playoffs. If that was true then the Jazz would be destroying in the ratings because they made it 19 years in a row before last year. You put a team on T.V. because it has something exciting and fun to offer. Clevland, along with teams like phoenix and dallas brings this to the table with lebron, so they are getting 32 games. I would also like to know how you can say that lebron is not a winner even when he single-handedly earns a team 32 more wins in his rookie year. Carmelo has never made it to the second round despite having a much better team. Wade also had an obviously better team than Lebron and made it to the conference finals this year. I dont want to diss these guys since they are great players like Lebron, just dont pin the lack of a strong supporting cast on Lebron as him "not being a winner". If you're right about the people who think the Cavs are gonna be higher than a sixth seed, then i think the world is about to be overrun by retards. This is yet another ridiculous and unfounded claim given without a strong explaination.the top five seeds in the east were miami, detroit, boston chicago and washington. While the Cavs probably wont finish ahead of detroit and miami, the other three teams are without question weaker this year, and this, along with an improved cavs team should lead to a pretty easy third seed. Boston lost Walker, and Pierce can only carry them so far before their holes are exposed. Chicago is facing injurie problems and without their full frontcourt are potenially in danger. Washington lost hughes, and while they picked up adequate replacements, they probably wont be able to compete with Lebron and the cavs. You say the forncourt is aging even though Gooden, the projected starter at PF is only 23 and while Z is 30, he is still effective and has shown improvements is his health. The length of his contract is has no negative effect on this season and is completely irrevelent when talking about how far they'll go. Lebron's too proud to go in the dunk contest eh? How about he had a nagging injury and didnt want to risk the team's season for something that essentially means nothing. I dont even know where you could have got the idea that he was too proud, once again you have seemingly pulled a "fact" out of nowhere. As far as legal problems go, Lebron won his case against someone who claimed that he gave him permission to do a documentary about Lebrons life. You use this case as an attempt to make lebron look bad even though he won and was proven to have done nothing wrong. I'll end by once again asking you to swallow your pride and say that Lebron is at the very least the best of his class, and most likely the best player that we will see for years to come.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I'm going to laugh if LeBron suffers a injury and all those games get low ratings. Honestly, why do they deserve all these games? But on subject, 32 nat. tel. games is pushing the envelope for any team. I know the country wouldn`t really watch, but I would love if the NBA nat. tel. like one game for the low record teams.
like B-22 and softparade sid, if he goes down that spells trouble for the NBA. That's the problem with banking your TV schedule on one player, because no one cares about anyone else on the Cavs. Also, Bryce, Lebron is a great player, but if you give him so many games other guys should get more games to. Wade is arguably better than Lebron, Shaq, AI, Kobe, and the Suns should get more games based on their popularity. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting bryce40ww:</div><div class="quote_post">I couldnt agree more. By the way your comments about VC are totally stupid, ur just bitter that's all.
