Maybe BK made this move to work on some cap space for a big free agent, I was hoping we would get an actual player in this trade but no, no big changes. I`ll give this deal an S for satisfactory.
What??????? Man, Jackson is a solid guy off the bench and he loves it in Philly what the hell is King doing? I guess he plans on having Gai play backup PF or something, and now I don't know who the hell is going to back up Sam at center. This better lead to another roster move because this doesn't make much sense at all...

Finally being Billy King is dealing for draft picks instead of dealing them away. Not only does this clear cap space but it also shows that Billy King is willing to build for the future by trying to persue draft picks from other teams. Marc Jackson is a solid player off the bench but the Sixers showed that Dalembert is the future of the center spot and will likely be getting up to 35 minutes a game. All we need at that point is a decent center (Steven Hunter anyone?) to fill in for about 15 minutes a game.

Until the 76ers find someone to replace the 12 and 5 off the bench I'm pissed.... This clears cap space but still the 76ers are now missing a backup center. They are supposed to be trying to get more big men not trade the ones they have away.
This really needs to lead to another tansaction for a big guy. As it stands I am not sure it was such a good decision. I love the whole trade for draft picks to secure the future thing, but we need players now and big men that can play are scarce. I hope BK shocks me and pulls out something special.
Unless King lands us a legit backup powerforward or center after this, I'm totally against this trade. Marc Jackson currently was our only backup for Dalembert or Webber so trading him away without any guarantee that we would get any low post player in return was stupid. He was probably one of our more consistent players and was definitely a team player for us. Jackson loved playing for Philadelphia too. Deng Gai and Shavlik Randolph probably won't be able to contribute right away consistently at the powerforward or center position. Plus, I don't exactly see them putting up Jackson's numbers. And did we really have to add some cash in with the deal? That second round pick better be pretty high...
I think this move was made more to avoid having to pay the luxury tax. The 76ers do not have any money to spend to bring in a free agent, they are well over the cap space already. I expect more deals to be made before the summer is over to trim cap. Aaron McKie, Kevin Ollie, Greg Buckner, and John Salmons are all likely next. I agree with B-22, the 76ers are taking a gamble with this deal. They are putting all their faith in Dalembert, and let's be honest, he has not played consistently enough to warrant that trust. He played great against Detroit, but I'm not sure if he can handle 35MPG every night and make it through the season. Deng Gai is more of a PF than a center, he's only 6-9, 250lbs.
I'm a firm believer in trading for something. You don't give a quality player away for nothing, if you're trying to compete. I think they gave away too good of a player not to get something in return.
well, i dont like this trade much. with jackson gone, who is going to back up sammy and c-webb? gai? he isnt even a proven player in the nba. with jackson, we know what we are going to get. a solid 10-12 points and maybe 4 or 5 rebounds. although it is good to see the sixers dealing for the future, arent they trying to win now with c-webb and AI. all i have to say is that BK better have a plan up his sleave, or else this trade really hurts us.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting The Soft Parade:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe BK made this move to work on some cap space for a big free agent</div> I believe it was for the Sixers to avoid paying the luxury tax. Even if they are past the luxury tax figure, they avoid paying Jackson's 4.5 million and the 4.5 they would of owed if they were over the luxury tax figure. But still, unless the Sixers land a big then I don't see how this makes sense...unless BK knows something about Randolph and Gai that we don't.
Good trade for Nets but bad for Sixers.Still SAR would be better but this hope is gone and Marc is better than nothing (much better)Still he does not have defense.
Unless this is a trade we are pulling to make room for a big signing/trade I think its high way robbery what the Nets did to us. A second round pick? With the moves the Nets have been making this off-season chances are that the earliest that pick will be is 49 or around there. Marc Jackson was one of our most consistent performers during the regular season last year, and the only big man besides Webber who could hit a shot more than three feet away from the basket. I honestly feel like there is something more behind this perhaps we will sign Steven Hunter now to take his place. We are putting too much faith in Dalembert. Should he not live up to expectations this season there goes our year. Who do we have to back him and Webber up now Deng Gai, and Shavlik Randolph two undrafted rookie free agents. Billy King better know something I don?t.

I don't know if the second round pick will be that low, because the only thing the Nets have done before this trade is getting Jeff McInnis. The Atlantic will be up for grabs in my opinion.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Bobcats:</div><div class="quote_post">Buckner doesn't even play for Philly. He got waived last season.</div> yeah, he got waived, so the sixers still have to pay him. his contract stills counts against our cap.
