<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinKanaddy:</div><div class="quote_post">I don't know if the second round pick will be that low, because the only thing the Nets have done before this trade is getting Jeff McInnis. The Atlantic will be up for grabs in my opinion.</div> yeah, well, remember that richard jefferson is coming back, and even though the shareef trade is delayed now, it's more than likey to happen.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting phiLA:</div><div class="quote_post">yeah, well, remember that richard jefferson is coming back, and even though the shareef trade is delayed now, it's more than likey to happen.</div> Er,, no. The Nets traded their trade exception to get Marc Jackson from you guys, and that's what they were going to use, along with a 1st round pick, to grab Abdur-Rahim from the Blazers. Marc Jackson was the Net's plan B.
The worst part of this trade is that you guys trade Jackson to a division rival. By giving them a more solid frontcourt, BK may have allowed the Nets to pass the Sixers and contend for the division crown.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">Man I'm starting to not care for Hunter, wasn't he supposed to make his decision weeks ago? Until the 76ers find someone to replace the 12 and 5 off the bench I'm pissed.... This clears cap space but still the 76ers are now missing a backup center. They are supposed to be trying to get more big men not trade the ones they have away.</div> I definitely think that Billy King has something working here. He wouldn't just trade away our only backup center and leave us with nobody. Maybe something is working that includes John Salmons? Who knows, there is definitely something brewing in the Sixers front office if you ask me.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting C.K.:</div><div class="quote_post">I definitely think that Billy King has something working here. Until then, I'm certain that BK is going to pull off something good..I still have faith in the guy.
*sigh* Nobody here would believe how upset I am over this trade. Honestly, this feels as if we just traded Iguodala or Dalembert. Jackson is a rare commodity in the league. Besides notable players such as Duncan, Shaq, Dampier and others tell me another role player that actually chooses to play a physical game over finesse in the low post? Besides Reggie Evans and no more than five other players at most there aren't any. Jackson was a perfect fit for this team. He is one heck of a FT shooter for a big man, has a nice shot and he is also consistent. All I wanted to see happen next season is him shifting over to PF primarily because he can't jump, but other than that I don't see no reason for him to leave. But before I loose too much faith we're only in the middle of the off-season and there are many moves that have yet to be done, so BK might have something up his sleeve (hopefully), but for the time being this really hurts and I have a gut feeling we will enter the 05-06 season with two undrafted players occupying the backup C and PF position.
I really liked Marc, screaming loudly under the basket and he had a nice mid-range jumper.Only bad thing was that he wasn't able to jump but trade him to the Nets? Does this mean we're getting Steven Huneter?

He always had the Philly badassness in him, on and off the court. But like C.K. said, I really doubt BK would trade away Jackson for almost nothing, unless he`s an idiot. But maybe something really is going down, something that could really help out...
yeah, i agree with what you guys said. although BK isnt the best GM ever, he certainly is stupid. i think he has something coming.............

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Marc Jackson, who was emotional about a return to his Philadelphia roots two years ago with the 76ers, is moving on. The former star at Roman Catholic High and Temple was traded to the New Jersey Nets yesterday for a conditional second-round pick in the 2006 draft. The Sixers also included an undisclosed amount of cash. The Sixers made the move to lighten the potential luxury-tax load and to clear the way to acquire other players. Jackson is slated to earn $4.55 million this season and $4,875,000 next year. Any team must pay a dollar-for-dollar tax on anything above the $61.7 million luxury-tax figure. "The luxury tax was definitely a consideration," Sixers president and general manager Billy King said last night during a brief news conference at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. "It gives us a lot more flexibility regarding that situation. Right now, we are way under the tax and will be on the phones to see if we can add another big man and a perimeter player." One possible big man is Indiana free agent Dale Davis. His agent, Chubby Wells, said last night that the Sixers are still in the mix for Davis' services. The fact that the Sixers are also looking to add a perimeter player could mean that they believe guard Willie Green may be sidelined for an extended time. The team announced yesterday that Green would undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Tuesday by surgeon James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala. Sixers team physician Jack McPhilemy will assist in the procedure.</div> <div align="center">Source </div>

I also think that it's not anyone of the marquee guys he intentionally was going after before the trade (Hunter, Davis, or Lathnerr). I?m guessing it?s a bigger name. Who? I have no idea.

None of these FA's are as good as Jackson....not even Steven Hunter, he's not proven to be consistent yet...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting B-22:</div><div class="quote_post">At this point, Marc Jackson>Dale Davis.</div> Yes but it looks like Billy King will take his chances by adding a second round pick and some of the guys that were picked in the second round were Rashard Lewis, Manu, Gibert Arenas, and Michael Redd. So I am guessing Billy King is look at it like this: Marc Jackson < Dale Davis + 2rd Pick (Possibly a gem like Shard, Manu, Arenas, or Redd)

The Nets seem to be on the rise at this point- obtaining a deep bench, getting some good frontcourt players, and not to mention still having their three stars. Thus, I doubt the pick would be high at all. You also need to take into account that our two stars- Webber and Iverson, are in their declining stages of their career so we basically need to win a championship now, or we'll need to wait a couple more years.
