<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Mavericks may release Finley under the one-time amnesty waiver opportunity, which frees Dallas of any luxury-tax liability incurred by Finley's remaining $51.8 million of salary over the next three years. Phoenix may have a bigger problem than the timing of the Johnson ordeal because industry insiders believe Finley is bound for Miami either way. Despite all of its recent acquisitions, Miami still has its $5 million midlevel exception available to offer a free agent - and Finley has the same agent (Henry Thomas) as Dwyane Wade. Even though the amnesty rule mandates that Finley will get all of the $51.8 million owed him from Dallas, he may be motivated to take a Miami exception offer because about $30 million of his money is deferred if he is waived. Miami does not have a good friend (Steve Nash), a starting job or the familiarity of a former team such as Phoenix but the chance at a title is apparent. Finley would not stand to make an extra $5 million. There is an offset involved that would actually mean Finley would be limited to an extra $2.82 million if he signed for the midlevel exception.</div> Source
There's no doubt that the Heat would be loaded If they get Finley and really the scary thing for the rest of the NBA is how easily they have gotten It. Mainly down to bad GM work from other teams. Chemistry could be a problem for the Heat and on the defensive end they don't look that great. Although on paper all this talent Shaq and Wade have around them they will look very scary indeed. If Shaq is indeed the best player in the NBA like he says and thinks he is then he should have no problem bringing home a title to Miami.
They still need a reliable 3 pt. shot and a backup PG, so there are a few holes to fill in this Heat squad. Michael Finley would at least bring a a good shooter. However, they still need to find a good backup PG.
I actually don't wanna see Miami sign Finely. I'm a Dallas fan and Finely isnt the player he was before. His shot has been inconsistent at best, and I think he isn't going to do much good for Miami, since his defense is also poor.
Finley's shooting from behind the arc has been the same the past few years and he could be very dangerous next to Shaq. He is already a 40% three-point shooter. Still think Finley would be best off in Phoenix though.
I really don't want to see Finley go to Miami, I like the Heat, but this would just wow. I want to see Finley go to the Suns, it would be cool to see him with Nash again. Also that would keep the NBA more balance, the West has got to keep their stars and stop sending them to the East. Actually if Finley had to come to the East I want to see him join up with Chicago, that would be a dream. Bottom line, if Finley goes to the Heat, they are stacked, but would still fall short to the Spurs who just play great team ball.
This would really make us a force ebcause it gives even more depth, and a perimiter threat which is something we need even with Toine. However we still need a pg at this point and hopefully we find someone to fill the spot left by Damon JOnes.
Wouldn't be smart to aquire Finley with the full MLE, because the Heat still don't have a backup PG. Unless Riley is working up another trade.
IMO if they are going to sign Finley they have one of the best rosters in nba history on paper . C:Oneal PF:Haslem/Walker SF:Finley SG:Wade PG:Williams just sick...and bench is scary too:Zo,Wright(good talented young player),Posey,Walker/Haslem,Damon Jones(if he resign..but i dont think so)
Wow, if the Heat get Finley its going to look even more scary for the rest of the teams. Finley all though he is not young i think he can still make an effect with his shooting.

Why do you think tons of teams are waiting to see what happens with Finley before they sign ANYONE? I can't remember sweepstakes like this before. Michael Finley hits clutch shots with hands in his face. Miami could use another guy capable of doing that. WORLD CHAMPS- June 2006
you say the post from jtam101 that he knows nothing about basketball yet you go and make this statement <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Michael Finley hits clutch shots with hands in his face</div> Talk about double standard Findog hasn't hit clutch shots with guys in his face for a good 3 or 4 years.

Any clutch shots Finley has hit have been from open shots. The game you are talking about Finley had a big shooting night. Which he is obviously capable of doing. That game wasn't even decided on a game winner. So not sure what exactly you are getting at. Dallas fans were always getting on Finley for choking when it matters. The Heat certainly wouldn't be depending on him for clutch shots If he does indeed go there.

If not for him they woulda been swept. Dirk's the one who scores 30 points and then comes up empty in crunch time. Michael's gonna get and hit a million open shots with Miami because of Shaq, Wade, and Antoine. I can't wait until November 25th; He's gonna light Dallas up!
