I wonder what kind of package they are offering. I remember last time when they were supposedly talking, they hit a snag when Ainge wanted Livingston and LA didn't want to part with him. I don't know how I feel about this because I had pretty much convinced myself that Pierce was here to stay. But the more that I think about it, if we can land Maggette and Livingston from the Clips, then this might be totally worth it.

Fascinating. I was playing with the trade checker to see what offers I could come up with. Brand for Pierce straight up works, Maggette and Brand for Pierce, Blount, and Perkins works as well. Those are about the only two feasible trades i can come up with that dont involve Livingston or any of Boston's untouchable young guys.

I agree with you, 44, but I don't think the Clippers will be willing to unload Livingston considering they just drafted him and in the games he's played with them, he's looked pretty impressive. He has potential written all over him, too. Many believe he can be the Penny Hardaway type player some time in the near future. In return, the Clippers would want a young player from Boston.

Last time I remember some Celtics/Clippers rumor like this, but the move didn't work out financially. It doesn't seem to work out well financially with Pierce going to the Clippers unless the move is with Brand of course, but that would be a bad trade with Al Jefferson looking to make an impact.

The Celtics should just wait around for the perfect deal to come around for Pierce. Is Boston looking for some expiring contracts?

Livingston is going nowhere, that shouldn't even be in consideration, and the chances of Brand being involved are very slim, Wilcox is not highly regarded by the management or the coaching staff. so they aren't going to trade Brand so he can get PT or something stupid like that.

The scenario's I can think of are Maggette and Wilcox, or something like Maggette and S&T Marko Jaric.

If the celtics could get Livingston from the clips that would be awesome. But it doesn't look like the clips want to give away Livingston.

If I were Ainge and I had a shot to land SL14 I'd take it in a heart beat. If they offer Maggette and Wilcox that would also be a nice deal for Boston. Assuming that Wilcox isn't found guilty in his gun trial.

First, the Clippers were offering Maggette and Wilcox for Pierce, but Danny said no and asked for Livingston instead of Wilcox.

Now, all of a sudden, the Clippers are calling back up with Pierce in mind again, that either means that they've changed their minds - or that they think that Ainge has changed his. If the latter were the case, then that would be a very short phone call, and definitely not something that three NBA sources would be talking about.

It also could mean that the Clippers are willing to part with Brand. In that case, they'd probably have to have a backup plan in place to replace him. SAR?

Hard to believe the Clippers are after Pierce, since they just brought in Cuttino Mobley to play SG. Their starting 5 should be set with Livingston, Mobley, CMaggs, Brand & Kaman.

The main the piece I can see the Clips trading is Maggette. Livingston is going nowhere. He's basically untouchable, there are very few players that the Clips would consider taking back for him. So to mention in any trade is insane. If the Clippers did approach the C's again, I think it's more likely that it includes Jaric in the deal rather than SL.

If they do trade for Paul, then I see him playing SF. This would kill the Clippers, giving away two promising young guns.

Thrilla and I were discussing this on AIM, how about this scenario?

Livingston & CMaggs for Pierce, Banks, & Allen?

The Clippers have been shopping CMaggs around for the last couple of seasons. They also drafted their future SF this year by selecting Korolev. He's not ready to play, so Paul Pierce can hold down SF for the next 2 or 3 years. Trading Livingston is hard to swallow, but the Clippers can go ahead and bring back Jaric, plus add Banks for depth. The Clippers also get Tony Allen in the deal to backup Mobley, and the likely predecessor to the position.

    PG - Jaric/Banks/Chalmers
    SG - Mobley/Allen/Ewing
    SF - Pierce/Ross
    PF - Brand/
    C - Kaman/Wilcox

Clippers can do some damage with that lineup this year and for years to come.

I wouldn't do that from the Clippers side. Livingston has more potential to be a top 3-5 PG in the entire league in a few years, unlike Banks and Allen. Pierce for Maggette is good, but really, Maggette can do almost anything Pierce can do, and in some instances, better. They can both score, rebound and pass. Both are athletic. Pierce I know sometimes has the ability to be a good defender, but isn't great or bad like VC. Not sure about Maggette, because I don't watch the Clippers that often. All in all, I wouldn't do it if I was Baylor.

You're trying to compare Pierce to Maggette, yet you end it all off by letting us know that you know absolutely nothing about Maggette to start with. You can look at stats all you want, but when was the last time that Maggette led his team anywhere other than the lottery? And to think that he's playing alongside one of the best power forwards in the league, and still can't do it, just proves that Paul Pierce is far superior.

I know absolutely nothing about him? First of all, I said I don't watch the Clippers often, meaning I still have watched a few games when they face the Raptors, Bobcats, or when they are on RSN or NBA TV. I've just never watched him carefully enough on defense to judge him. Second, Maggette isn't supposed to be the leader for the Clippers, Elton Brand is. Maggette might be playing with one of the best PF's in the game, but Brand is also playing with a top 5-10 SF. Injuries are one of the biggest reason's the Clippers havn't made the playoffs in a while. Also, I know Pierce is better, I just said Maggette can do almost anything Pierce can.

I don't think that trade will make a big enough impact on the Clippers to consider trading Livingston. If they were to trade one of their future stars it would be to create a team that could win now. However, I don't see that improved lineup making a huge improvement over the current club. At tops, I would see them at the 7th seed in the West.

That trade would have made more sense earlier in the offseason. The Clippers would have brought in Pierce and resigned Bobby Simmons to replace Maggette. Right now Mobley has already taken the SG spot and, IMO, they've pretty much set up their lineup for this coming season (except for the Jaric situation).

Pierce would probably like that because that's where he's from. Shaq gave him the nickname "The Truth" after destroying the Lakers in L.A. So maybe Pierce would dominate the west coast. That would be great in town rivarly, Pierce vs. Kobe.

This rumor just got a lot more interesting with the latest Clipper trade. The Clippers reportedly traded Jaric & Chalmers to the TWolves for Sam Cassell and a 1st Round Pick. This move gives the Clippers a veteran PG to take over as the starter. The Clippers might finally be serious about winning, and acquiring two veterans to make a playoff push is the best way for them to go about it.

Agreed, and Livingston is a huge price to pay for that other veteran. I'm sure the Clips have something else in mind, and since we haven't heard anything else yet, that's a pretty sure sign that there's more bargaining to be done, and that's just plain exciting.

the clips are making all the right moves getting solid vets to mix with some younger guys like brand....us on the other hand are getting rid of all our vets with play off expirience for youger guys with no play off expirience....i dont get it? why trade the captain for a pg who does have potential but is injury prone and maggette who puts up ok numbers but its always been just him and brand someone needed to carry the load...and both of them have 0 playoff expirience....are only vet would be lafrentz...and hes probabley on his way out....and lest not forget how big paul steps up when the playofs do role around....he made hitory this year he had a game with 30 + points 7 boards 7 assits 3 steals 3 blocks...peirce is our vet captain who needs to stay with this team
