Supposedly there's a rumor floating around that Houston may come to Philly..Is there any truth to this rumor, like a link or something?
We have no room to sign him we just spent all our money on getting Steven Hunter. Only way to get Houston would have been through sign and trade, but a team can not resign a player waived through amnesty until his original contract expires. Anyway I doubt these rumors were true, because all I have heard from articles is Houston to Miami, Detroit, or the Nets.
I've heard something like that, too. If Allan Houston came to the 76ers, it would be a huge improvement especially if his knee starts healing. Despite his lateral quickness going, he's such a good shooter, that he'll be more than decent with the jumper. In addition, he's still clutch and now when the fouce is on Iverson during crunch time, Houston can step up and hit the jumper. It works out for everyone at the end of the day especially since you'll pay him the MLE. Too bad it's only a rumor, though. Sources indicate that if he does get waived (most likely), he'll be going to Detroit or Miami; but probably Detroit because it's where he spent the beginning of his career.
We'll I believe the Sixers do have money to sign Houston because they signed Hunter to a 4 year 16.5 million dollar contract, which should start inbetween 3-3.5 million leave 1.5 + ish left off their MLE. Houston would be a nice addition to any ball club, but the Sixers should be focusing at the PF spot, to sign a backup for C-Webb. Othella Harrington would be a nice addition.
I like it; if Houston can get his health at an acceptable level then he could still be valuable for an NBA team pushing towards a championship. I think with the rest of what?s left of their money the 76ers should try and sign a veteran guard or forward who knows how to play a role. Some people that come to mind are, Derek Anderson, Houston himself, and personally I like Latrell Sprewell if he will sign for cheap.

If new york waives Houston under the amnesty, or "Allan Houston" clause as they call it, he will be free to resign with a new contract with any team he wants. (or else players like Brian Grant and Allan Houston won't be able to play till their contract runs out, which makes no sesnse)
It looks like the Knicks are just going to keep Houston... but I did find an article from Hoopshype saying the Sixers are interested in signing a specific player... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Trading Jackson and waiving McKie enabled the 76ers to get under the luxury tax threshold for now. The Sixers have about $1.5 million available to sign a player waived by another team under the amnesty provision. "There's one player I want, if we're going to do it," King said. He wouldn't identify that player, although he did say that he was looking for a shooter. Allan Houston, who is likely to be waived by the Knicks by the amnesty deadline Monday, would fit that description."</div> Do you guys think it is Houston? It sounds like it.
That description fits both Andersen and Houston I think. But, I'm going to say what I said in the Rockets forum about Houston- he's too injury prone to my liking. I mean, this isn't really a player that we can count on for the majority of games and in the past two seasons, played a combined seventy games. Thats too unreliable in my opinion. Plus, his defense is supposedly mediocre at best, I just don't want us to take the risk on this guy. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> derek anderson is most likely going to the lakers, and latrell sprewell cant come cheap. he has to feed his family. </div> I actually think Sprewell would come cheap, now that he can't find a job anywhere.

They are in need of another guard or forward sense Green is injured, so who else would u sugest? It is not like they are actually going to spend big money or anything. But, now I am hearing that the Knicks are just going to keep Houston so it doesn't matter anyway. Maybe it could be Finely? I haven't heard any rumors of him coming to Philly, it is likely he goes somewhere else. But I would definitely pick him up.

Its pretty obvious his body is breaking down so I'd doubt he'd be able to play a full season with us. I don't understand why we can't just plug Salmons in for Green. That way, it would develop Salmons further who can also fill in for Iverson at garbage minutes.
