about the lack of attention given to the Bucks
    enjoy.

    No National Recognition</div>

<div style="padding-left: 20px;">Well, it?s that time of year again. Players getting signed, coaches get a first look at their rookies, and trade rumors are swirling about. There is one more thing that happens, and that is that the schedules get released. One of the first thing people look at is the number of games that will be shown on national TV.</div>
<div style="padding-left: 20px;">Now, you might think bringing in the Naismith and Wooden Award winner would help up the national credibility of your team. Well, that?s what I thought when the Milwaukee Bucks selected Andrew Bogut out of Utah. That?s not the only thing the Bucks did to get attention, they re-signed arguably the biggest name in free agency, Michael Redd. Now, I thought those two things alone should have helped the Bucks get some national credibility. The Bucks weren?t done quite yet; they signed the most improved player from the following year in Bobby Simmons. Right there are 3 big name players that will be part of the team next year. Finally, after a spinal cord injury that kept him out for 1 ? seasons, soon to be 3rd year player TJ Ford has been cleared for full contact. </div>
<div style="padding-left: 20px;">The schedules are released as many fans wait to see the number of games their team will be playing in front of a national audience. Buck fans are outraged to see that the Bucks get two measly games on national TV. Back to Back games too. They will be playing two games on NBA TV, and that?s a channel that a lot of people don?t receive. So all in all I guess getting 4 big contributors, and a new coach in Terry Stotts really doesn?t help you get any national recognition. You need to be a big name team like the Los Angeles Lakers who ended up with a total of 34 national games. There is always the possibility that the Bucks will play good and get a couple more games, but they deserve the respect at the beginning of the season for what they have accomplished over the off-season. I guess the motto ?Our Team Our Town? finally makes sense, because nobody else gets to watch any of the games.</div>

Great read man, and it's so true. The Bucks get very little national recognition, and even within the state of Wisconsin, they don't get as much as they should. This is due to the fact that Wisconsin is a state in which the college teams get as much if not more recognition than the pro teams (with the notable exception of the Packers [IMG] ). I think it's about to change, however. I remember back when we had the Big 3, and made it to the East finals, there was finally a buzz about the Bucks in Wisconsin. I think with the team we've got now, we're going to be on the way back to the top, and I think that since our team is so young, we'll actually sustain a stay near the top, and instead of having a fleeting interest, Wisconsin fans will really begin to embrace our Bucks. Great read man, and great to see hard work and time being put in at the Bucks forum [IMG]

Ya sorry if it was a little hard to read, I wrote it in word, and it didn't get pasted with paragraphs.
Thanks for the comments though. Me living up in Central Wisconsin is all Packer land. Buck Fans (die hard ones) are hard to find.

    Cool article man

I think that once the Bucks get better and start winning some more people are gonna start to notice them again. If there's anything you can count on with Wisconsin fans, its that they will support their own guys if they show that they can win.

I'll helped you clean up the look of the article. In the future you can use the Indent button [IMG]

I thought the NBA would do more to promote Andrew Bogut in his rookie season. Not only does he deserve the national spotlight after being the #1 overall pick, the Bucks are a legit playoff team, and the NBA could attract more Australian/Croatian fans of Bogut.

Ya, i agree witht the article, they put the Lakers on T.V. a lot, but teams like Utah, Bucks, Hawks, and Hornets don't get barely any games on T.V. I like seeing the rising stars and rookies on T.V., it just pisses me off i get to see a team that was good in the past every week, and don't get to see my favorite college players that were picked high, to see if they translate good. I just hate how they do this stuff now days.

Well if you're a 7 foot big man who obviously doesn't have what it takes to be "The Next Jordan" don't expect to be marketed. The NBA becamse obssessed with finding the next Jordan. Who can blame them anyway? It was a recipe for success in the past. But I do agree also that the NBA shd do something to attract more fans (globally). Bogut is a nice place to start.

I don't think that it's so much that the league needs to market him as they next Jordan, or that because he doesn't fit that bill, shouldn't market him at all. They should market him for what he is; a big, nasty kid who's going to a pretty good player. They should market him globally, maybe market him as an heir to Shaq's throne instead of Jordan's (yeah, I know, that's probably overrating him, but you know what I mean), market him as the savior of the Bucks, market him as a foreign kid in good 'ol Wisconsin. You could market Bogut any number of ways, and you could market the Bucks, too. There's interest to be had, and the Bucks should find a way to get in on it. We need to get it out there that this is a team on the rise, so jump on board now.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was disapointed in the scheduling this year. I thought they (national networks) would give the Bucks some coverage cause of two things. 1) They did get the #1 pick in last years draft. 2) The Bucks are clearly a team on the rise. I wouldn't doubt this year the Bucks will take advantage of the international talent they have and incorportate it into there marketing somehow. This team is on the rise. Larry Harris's front office moves this year should be remebered as one of the better off-seasons the Bucks have had. They are not done yet. As of August 25th they are yet to sign another player most likely a 3rd string Center to round of this year's club.

It would be nice just to get 2 games that are on regular national TV like ESPN or something.
