Jaric for Cassell & Picks

I think the deal is changed to Marko Jaric & Lionel Chalmers for Sam Cassell & 1st round pick.

You should change the title to Jaric goes to Minnesota and Alien Sighting in LA!

The guy they trade for...Marko Jaric.

 

I think this is a very solid move for Minny. They get a relatively young guard in Jaric who has improved quite a bit in the last year, and they're getting rid of a guy who's been a headache to the team lately. Jaric should be a solid fit with the Wolves, and this was about as good a deal as Minnesota could have made to get rid of Cassell. They get a young, improving player, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Jaric have a big year playing with KG.

 

Both teams improve.

MIN- gets a pg who wont argue about his contract. jaric is better than him i think.
LAC- gets a 1st round pick, for a player that probably wouldnt of resigned. Cassell is also a decent pg and can mentor Livingston

Jaric better then Cassell, if Sammy is healthy....please, Cassell averaged 16ppg last year before he went down. His average drop off due to the fact that after he went down in January, he was in & out of the lineup & his role was a backup. But Jaric being better then Cassell, no. McHale made this move pretty much to save face....just like the firing of Flip Suanders. He is trying to by pass the real reason the Wolves werent successful last year, they never addressed their bigman needs last year and havent addressed them this year.


Mchale was once again having a inactive offseason, so he needed to make a move to shake up the roster as well as make it appear the Wolves are trying to get better. But He doesnt even believe that Jaric is better then Cassell, you can tell by the comments he has made in the papers about the trade. We are getting a spectaclar defender as the selling point to make people believe he is going to give what Sam gave. Jaric is average defender at best, & he never mentioned anything about offense, cause he wouldnt want to embrass himself like that to compare the two. Jaric wont even give you what Cassell gave the Wolves last year, and that was Sammy's worst season since became a consistent starter in this league.

 

Sam Cassell is way better than Jaric, but Sam is a lot older, so the Wolves did a pretty good job landing a good, young PG in Jaric. If Sam recovers fully from his injury the Cavs are going to be a pretty solid team this year with Brand, Sam, Mobley, they won't make the playoffs, but will definetely win more games this year than last. The Wolves do improve too, that team was bogged down with injuries, hopefully this year they can stay healthy. They were so close 2 yrs ago, one healthy Sam Cassell could have got them there. You guys are right though it is a win, win for both sides.

 

I don't know how I feel about this. I thought Sam still had some game left in his tank, if he could stay healthy. I would have gladly given up Hudson instead. Sam brought veteran savvy, outside + inside game, and knew how to react in clutch situations. If it wasn't for his health conditions, I wouldn't have pulled the string on this deal. I am a Jaric fan, but at the expense of one of our better clutch players? I don't know. I don't know who the other guy is......AT ALL. I read he's a quick point who is great at the 3 pt stripe. Looks like insurance.
