<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CHICAGO (AP) - Free agent power forward Brian Grant will likely sign a two-year, nearly $4 million contract with the Phoenix Suns, agent Mark Bartelstein said Monday. The Chicago Bulls also were interested. "It's a great opportunity," said Bartelstein, adding his client will "make a final decision" on Tuesday. "They have the best record in the league. It was a tough call because Chicago made a great presentation." The first year of the contract would be guaranteed, with Grant holding an option for 2006-07, according to Bartelstein. "I think that's the way we're leaning," Bartelstein said. Grant was waived last week by the Los Angeles Lakers under the NBA's amnesty clause - a one-time provision in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement that allows teams to cut a player without paying luxury tax on his contract. He is still owed $29.8 million on a contract that had two more years remaining.</div> Source Great addition for the Suns, Brian Grant is a warrior despite his bad knees. He's also a vocal and positive voice with the community outside of basketball.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinsanityVC15:</div><div class="quote_post">does that mean no finley?</div> If the Joe Johnson trade goes through, they could use the trade exception they acquired to sign him for up to 5 mill I believe. Adding Grant is a nice move. Their roster could look like this next year: C:Kurt Thomas/Grant PF:Amare/ SF:Shawn Marion/Jim Jackson/Diaw SG:Finley/Raja Bell PG:Nash/Barbosa They would actually have a 9-10 man rotation which would be a huge improvement from last year's depth. At PF, Grant or Kurt Thomas could slide over during the few minutes that Amare is on the bench. Also I think Bell could handle pg duties for a few minutes a game, if Leandro struggles.
Finley to Suns? I hope this is true and they can get Finley. He would fit much better with the Suns than the Heat. I don't think money will be an issue for him since he gets paid either way. If the Suns can swing it I think he would like to go to a familiar team and city and finally win a championship with his buddy Steve Nash feeding him the ball.
Phoenix desperately needs Finley.....I agree that he would fit perfectly into the Suns offense........I've always liked Grant, but at at this point in his career I don't know how effective he can be.

Theres a deal in the mix in which Diaw would come here with I think picks for JJ, go to the Hawks forum and theirs stuff on it. The Suns have made a heap of improvements and they are steadily filling the void that was left with the Q-Rich deal, I think next year for sure if all these acquisitions pan out well the Suns will meet the Heat in the Finals.

The thing that I like about the Suns' offseason moves is that they are looking at what made them lose the Spurs series, and addressing those problems. And there are two of them, depth and defense. They have lost two starting players in Joe and Q but they have gained back alot of defensive minded role players in return which for than fill the void IMO because they are creating a deap bench for you guys. Kurt Thiomas, Boris Diaw, Brian Grant. They are all god hustle players that the Suns lacked last season. If you ask me Q-Rich is hardly a loss because Kurt is bringing in everything you guys need. Joe is a loss, but it isn't too bad because you guys are working to fill in for him. Good offseason by the Suns so far.
