Well the Knicks ended up keeping Houston, and waiving (Junk Yard Dog) Jerome Williams using the amnesty clause. Now Williams can play anywhere else besides NY. This guy is a veteran player, and at this point I agree with Avery that the 76ers should start looking to add some seasoned players if Philly wants to gear up for a run at the title. Williams still has enough left in the tank to provide great energy off the bench, and provide a solid locker room presence. Williams could also fill the hole the 76ers have at the backup power forward spot. The 76ers still have a small amount of money to spend on free agents, about 1.5 million, that should be enough to afford JYD at this point. At the same time, King said he was looking for a shooter so I don't think he is looking to sign Williams. But it was also kind of a surprise that Williams ended up getting cut instead of Houston, so maybe then King will give him a look.
Like I told you on aim I agree with you on everything you have said. He can only help us I really do not see a big risk in signing him. He will give us a veteran leader to mentor Samuel Dalembert and Steven Hunter while at the same time giving us hustle plays the occasional big dunk, and momentum shift off the bench. A power forward rotation of Webber and Williams would give us a good inside outside combo Webber with his outside shot, and Williams with his hustle down low.

Korver is a great shooter from deep but it looks like there's a chance he may be coming off the bench this season and we really don't have any deep threats in the starting lineup. Jerome Williams would be great, but I would rather see Billy King go after Derek Anderson to provide another force from downtown. If we lose out on Derek Anderson and it doesn't look like there are many shooters left then I say we go after "The Junk Yard Dog".
I think JYD is retiring: <div class="quote_poster">Quoting New York Post:</div><div class="quote_post">In announcing the amnesty waiving of Jerome Williams, who will likely retire, Thomas said he hopes to use that $1.7M lower exception on a young player.</div> Link
I'd love to see JYD with the sixers. As a raptor fan, I've watched JYD play with great intensity and to see him join one of my favorite teams would be great!
I hope Jerome can play and he comes here. He gets the crowd going and he brings so much energy into the game so he would be needed in Philly but if there are rumors about his injury being so serious that he has to retire then maybe it's better not to sign him.
Forget about Jerome Williams, how about that guy in Martin's sig. Wouldn't that be something. (I can only dream) Anyways, I think Jerome would be a great fit but the fact that he is considering retiring just goes to show you that he barley has anything left. When I say that, I mean he may no longer have the passion he has for the game. He is without a doubt in great physical condition to play, but it wouldn't be the same if his passion(what made him thrive) for the game was not present.
He would be a handy addition and maybe he just needs the right team and situation to regain his desire to play, who knows. Being an ex Hoya maybe him and Iverson would love to have another crack at playing together. While getting a shooter may be our first priority, JYD should be a solid back up plan.
