This was stupid move by Isiah. If anything Jerome Williams would have been one of Larry Browns favorite player. Jerome Williams attitude and style of play would have mesh extremly well with LB coaching style. That's the reason why Billy King(Sxiers GM) has been pursuing Williams when Brown was at the helm, those two would have done some nice things.

The Knicks needed to get rid of a player in their power forward glut, and Houston would have saved them more money if he retires than if they cut him. JYD would have been the perfect fit, but I also hear he's going to retire which makes it the right choice for us.
The word of him retiring would be the only reason to part ways with him, but if having to remove someone at that loaded PF position, why not cut Malik Rose or something? Williams would have been a much more valuable assest under Brown that Rose.

Rose has so much experience winning two rings with the Spurs, is the more skilled player and brings more defensively in the low post. I love JYD's game and his attitude, but he had to go.
If NY wanted to A) Save money - waive Houston Remove a PF - waive Mo Taylor C) Remove a hard-working Brown style player - waive JYD D) Save money without losing a player - waive Shandon Anderson's contract

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting AirJordan:</div><div class="quote_post">How do you think Toronto fans feel?</div> Yeah I'll always remember Jerome as a Raptor...he was instrumental during their playoff runs...
Say it ain't so. I loved Jerome while he played in Toronto. His hustle, defence, motivation and love for the city are great qualities for a role player to have on your team. You just don't come across a guy like Jerome everyday...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting NEW YORK, August 17, 2005:</div><div class="quote_post"> Less than 48 hours after the Knicks used the NBA?s amnesty provision on veteran forward Jerome Williams, the popular ?Junk Yard Dog? announced he was calling it a playing career to pursue other interests. Williams, whose intensity and effort made him a fan favorite throughout the league, played in 587 games over nine seasons, averaging 6.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. ?My days as the ?JYD? on the court as an NBA player are over, but I am looking forward to continuing all my offcourt work and keeping a promise to the kids of New York,? Williams said. Williams met with Isiah Thomas Wednesday morning at the team offices in New York and the two discussed options for the veteran forward to keep him involved with the team. In addition to doing some scouting work and learning the business side of basketball, Williams will pick up where he left off with MSG Network in the spring, working on a broadcasting career. </div> Link
