<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Locke:</div><div class="quote_post">Being 7-5 is not an advantage. Yao still gets blocked and dunked on on the regular. If he was 7-5 but was still as fast and jumps as fast as Stoudemire, it's a different story, but up to now, he's far exceeded the expectation of most.</div> Stoudamire with Yao's height would be the most dominating thing ever. The game would be over before it started!! That would just be one guy I would never want to be on the opposing team.
The NBA full of talent now. The Knicks and the Clippers got great lineups but one injury to a player can **** up a season. But i think the Celtics got a sick lineup: Lafrentz,Jefferson,Pierce,Davis,West, i love that team, these days u can win with talent and the Celtics truly have some talent.

Even the people in china are disapointed. How is Being 7'5 not an advantage? I bet he would rather prefer 5'5 more. How is being at least 4-6 inches taller than your opposition not an advantage? We're talking about Basketball here, not football or baseball. PF's are supposed to be faster and more athletic then centers. Yao has only been practicing his outide jumper instead of his post moves and it shows everyday on the court.
I hate when people refer to yao as a disappointment...yet the man averages 18, 8, and 2 and shoots 55%...but everyone thinks just because of his size he should be averaging 30/20/5...the ignorance that some people have when it comes to him is just astounding... anyway...best lineup in the NBA... it's a tie between Miami and SA...Miami will probably roll with Shaq/Haslem/Walker/Wade/Williams...SA will have Duncan/Mohammed/Finley/Ginobili/Parker...Hmmm...I 'll take SA's lineup... Duncan and Shaq will equal each other out statistically...Mohammed>Haslem...Walker>Finley, but ONLY if he plays sound and consistently, which he wont, so that matchup could be a wash as well...Wade>Ginobili, but not by much...Parker>Williams...

I was never a yao fan, but i like the guy more and more these days. do you watch the games? he only plays 30 minutes a game... show me anyone who plays centre and has a similar/greater stat line than Yao in 30 minutes? sure he's got things to work on, but so does any player that's only been in the league 3 years. yao gets fouled alot down low to prevent him from getting easy dunks etc. anytime a team has to resort to constantly fouling someone is because A they are a crap free throw shooter (Yao goes pretty good) or too dangerous to let them run loose. Yao isn't a bust buddy.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yao isn't a bust buddy.</div> GotSkillz just thinks he's a bust because he can't average twenty five points in his third year since he's 7-5. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">How is Being 7'5 not an advantage? Even Shaq has more quickness downlow than Yao. Its just something that comes with being 7-5.
As of now i think Miami, SA, and houston have the best lineups. Yao/ Shaq/ Rasho Swift/ Haslem/ TD McGrady/ Walker/ Finley DA/ Wade/ Ginobilli Skip/ williams/ parker Talent wise i think the rockets have a great chance. But it all comes down to team chemistry and experience. SA has proven they have it. And Miami should have it. Either way there is no way any other team will make it to the championship.

Now that the Rockets have a chance this year for champ, I will love watching them. I use to think Dallas was the funnest team to watch out of the three, because they could score so well, but Houstons looks so much better. P.S. Yao isn't a dissapointment, just was way overhyped. Why is he overhyped? 1 billion people all cheering for one player. I don't think he is overhyped, just a chinese man's favorite.

Name me one person from China who is disappointed in Yao. I went there this summer and they love him there! While you're laughing your ass off over here, I'm laughing at you. As AznxBaller already stated, Yao moves and reacts much slower than players at his position. Because of all the weight and height he lugs around, it's hard for Yao to maintain his durability too. Normally, people who are that tall get a lot of injuries to their knees, but Yao has missed only 2 games in three seasons. Also, you know too little basketball if you say that Yao doesn't have any post moves. He is one of the best players with his back to the basket and only lacks a hookshot. His baseline fadeaway is lethal, and his pump fakes are very deceiving. Besides, can Shaq, or better yet, Eddy Curry hit that jumper? You're acting as if having a mid-range game as well is a bad thing. I can bet you that if Yao is on the Knicks, you'd be kissing his shoes all day. Instead, you're just being a typical Knick fan on the forum: ignorance.
now that i look at it, it seems that the starting lineup of the heat, rockets, and spurs are pretty well matched. but who has the better bench? i think that spurs and the rockets benches are pretty good. they have good energy and veterans. The heat bench seems a little weaker because there are alot of rookies and unproven talent. what do yall guys think?

He moves slower, he's not from here, excuses excuses. That china thing was a joke, of course they love him there, thats why they cheated to make him an all-star twice. Bottom Line like I said 18 PPG AND 8 PPG FOR A CENTER THAT IS 7'5 IS HORRIBLE. LIKE I SAID HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE DOMINATING FOR HIS SIZE. WILT WAS SMALLER, Kareem was smaller, etc were around 3 inches smaller and they dominated the glass and were unstoppable. Yao Isnt. Yao can be shutdown easily. Yao isnt agressive. If your asking me, he's the next Bradley.

I'm not disrepecting you, but if you act ignorant, of course you'll be called ignorant. Here's something interesting about Yao's All-Star votes: more than half of his votes came from arena ballots. That means the voters from China didn't do as much as most might think. Also, China has 99.8 million Internet users, and I would estimate about a million of them are basketball fans. The US has 185.55 million Internet users. It's not like the Chinese government made it a law to have everyone vote for Yao or something. No one is comparing Yao to the likes of Chamberlain or Abdul-Jabaar. No one is even comparing him to Shaq, so I don't get why you keep throwing out those comparisons. Him being 7-5 has nothing to do with anything. Since he is 7-5, he should be dominating. So does that mean that since Nate Robinson is 5-7 and shorter than everyone else, he should suck? Do you like his being on the Knicks then? Everyone accepts the fact that while Yao will never be the most dominant force on the planet, he is a solid NBA player and deserves every ounce of respect he is getting. It's the guys who blow him up and those who discriminate against him because of race, height or jealousy who deserve to be lashed out against.
Yao has a height advantage but probably a coordination/athletic DISadvantage. What makes him a bust or not is if you think he is living up to his personal potential, and he is. He won't ever be considered as dominant as Shaq or Wilt but he's a handy player to have on the floor and deserves to be an all-star.
Didn't read the entire thread, but here's my opinion. I like the Houston starting line up, I don't know if they have the best line up, but they would certainly be a very exciting team to watch.
Lineup The Heat look loaded, but remember that Laker team 2 years ago that had 4 future Hall-of-Famers starting?Hmm..We'll see.Maybe they'll beat Detroit in the playoffs.Man i hate to be a parrot but the Spurs are looking good again, fellas.Everything depends on Duncan.
