Honestly, I'm not upset about this. I'm content with it for now. Korver is one-dimensional even though he vastly improved on his defense, hustle and rebounding. But wasn't Peja one dimensional and look how well he did playing with C-Webb. So with a change of game plan and lettings things come naturally it's not half that bad that Korver will most likely be starting again next season. And looking at our starting lineup we do need a consistent perimeter shooter, so Korver won't be that bad. An ideal replacment for him would be Mike Miller.
Okay? I don't get it, he started 57 of 82 games last season, why are they making it sound like it's something new? Korver doesn't have that ability. While Peja can't create off the dribble very well, he knows how to come off screens, and find lanes to get himself open shots and layups, which is what changes him from a shooter to a scorer.
Well until the 76ers make a move for another forward or guard, then I assumed Korver would remain the starter. I prefer him to come off the bench and provide instant offense, but until the 76ers can provide a better player then I guess we'll have to be contempt with Korver. He has what he needs, shooting and work ethic. If he learns how to get himself open and work on his movement without the ball he can be a lot better.
I'm a bit disappointed, but the small forward position can always be upgraded by the trade deadline. It's not exactly an immediate problem so I guess I'll agree with Avery in saying that Korver starting will do for now. The inside outside combination worked well last year with Iverson and Korver up until teams started to figure it out. However, I'm sure over the summer Korver improved some of his weak spots in his game so hopefully he'll be a bit more effective for us even with teams honing in on him more. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Okay? Then after he got completly shut down in the series against the Pistons those rumours became more credible to the point where King was considering it.
I was anticipating the 76ers would slide Iggy to SF, and bring in a PG (similar to Snow), and have AI play the SG.
AI had almost a career season at the point so Mo Cheeks ain't switching him back any time soon as far as i can tell. If they look at getting Finley or someone like that via free agency, then Korver comes off the bench again. Also, dependant on how Green heals, maybe he will not be out for as long as anticipated and come to start at the SG position. Had the Knicks released Houston, he would have been good but Finley may be a good choice. Korver as a sixth man just seems more comfortable.
That would be very nice and between him and Iggy, there would be highlight dunks galore!!! I still think that Finley would be nice but also we should make a real run at Derek Anderson. Surely he will be fairly cheap and a great benefit to our team.
I am a little upset about it. I was hoping that the Sixers would bring in another guard before the season starts and with Willie hurt that is starting to look more likely. I can't stress how great Derek Anderson would be to this team. He is a great player that for a year can play the two guard spot or until Willie comes back from his injury. If the Sixers want to look in the direction of a point guard, Damon Jones is still on the market. Maybe Billy will make a pitch at one of them. PG - Iverson SG - Anderson SF - Iguodala PF - Webber C - Dalembert I would love to see the Sixers put that lineup on the floor next season.
i would love 4 the sixers to get derek anderson and maybe michael finley but only one would do so maybe finley.
Are there any other free agents that are shooters that would help us. I know of Anderson and Finley and Houston but he is now off the list, is there anyone else we should be making a real run at??? I really like Korver off the bench for instant offence and another shooter would not hurt anyway!!
Derek Andersen can come cheap, but I'm not sure Sixers are actually pursuing him. The only team I've heard thats going after him are the Lakers. He's a high energy player, but the only problem with it is that he's terribly injury prone. Throughout his entire NBA career he hasn't played a full season and injuries really struck him hard the past few. Thats why it would be a risk signing him. Still, its probably a risk Philadelphia's going to need to take since Green's out and the small forward spot is a bit weak for my liking. Andersen would be able to switch to small forward too. By the way, how much is Gerald Wallace expected to be signed at?
