"The Rockets are said to have an interest in Anderson, who has also met with and worked out for the Lakers who will have him undergo a physical." Source I havent posted a new thread before so excuse my being a noob when it comes to posting one.... anyways just wanted to see everyone's thoughts on this.... and yes I do need to change my profile...I live in LA but I'm a Houston Fan..GO ROCKETS!
I htink we already had a discussion on DA. I personally think that it would be a good move to get him. welcome to the forum and hell yea GO ROCKETS!!
I mean he isn't half that bad and he is a great player to have because, I mean I'm not quite sure, but I don't think he has disputes with coaches and players...which means he will be very coachable even at his age and a great friend for the other teammates of his....and he contributes as well by playing multiple poistions...
agreed......We've already had a fullfledged war about DA. I've already vouched for him. I think he could be the missing piece to the puzzle.
If we had to trade for Anderson like it had been suggested before, then it would have been too much, and that was my opinion before. However, now that he has been waived (or bought out?), I think it'd be great if Anderson is to be signed for the LLE. Although he is injury-prone, signing him won't be too much of an investment and his three-point shooting would be good. His defense isn't good, but it's certainly possible that he works on it under Van Gundy.
Derek Anderson coming to visit the Rockets It was reported on FOX26 News in Houston. I much rather have DA than Sprewell. He still has skills and most importantly a better attitude than Sprewell. **post future DA articles here**
lol. You guys find something wrong with everybody. It's always "he's too old", or "he has no defense", "he's a ball hog". Derick Anderson is worth the risk. There aren't any other guys available right now at SF that can contribute more than DA. If we were to aquire him it would be great for the team. His defense is good, he can shoot, and handle the ball well. So I give him a

Scott Padgett for example, Great shooter, almost always hits when open, great 3 pt shooter for a PF, teriffic hustle, cheap...With that he sounds like one of the best players in the NBA, and he's good but not great... As for Derek Anderson I think if we can get him for the LLE then yeah he'd be good but I still think we need a backup for T-Mac more then another guard, but like I said for the LLE i'd be happy with that...
If we do get Anderson, then the team would have so much more versatility. In fact, if we are able to get any one of Finley, Anderson and Sprewell, we'd add someone who could start at shooting guard and slide over to small forward once McGrady goes out for Wesley. It would essentially form a situation where McGrady would get more rest and also one where he won't even need a backup at all. Even with all the injury suspections surrounding Anderson, I think he could be worth it if all we're investing in him is the LLE. If we had to take on his Blazers contract as well, then I'd find it hard to take.

The Rockets showed interest in Anderson as soon as he was released Aug. 3 by the Trail Blazers but had been considered at a disadvantage when competing with the Lakers, Pistons and Timberwolves. Those teams could offer all or part of their $5 million, mid-level exceptions.</div> Source Theres some info in there about Sprewell too.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Anderson interested in talking to Rockets Associated Press National Basketball Association News Wire HOUSTON -- Free agent Derek Anderson is interested in talking to the Houston Rockets as he tries to find a new basketball home. "There's more money out there, but I want a chance to win as well," Anderson said in a telephone interview with Houston television station KRIV. "I just want to be able to play and be comfortable." Anderson was released by the Portland Trail Blazers under the NBA's new amnesty clause. His agent, Tony Dutt, says several teams have expressed interest. Anderson said he is trying to set up a meeting with the Rockets as soon as possible. He said he would love to play with players like Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and Stromile Swift. "I've always wanted to play with a great center," he said. "Coming in the same year Tracy did, we have a good relationship. I've actually watched Stromile grow. I think it's just a good fit." The eight-year NBA veteran averaged 9.2 points and three assists in 47 games with the Blazers last season but had a variety of injuries, including back spasms. In his four seasons with Portland, Anderson averaged 12 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 244 games. </div> I have this weird feeling that we WILL end up with DA...same line, same motive, plus he just wants to feel comfortable for whatever team he's playing for (more like a team who would appreciate his presence ). Also, don't forget the fact that he was the first player to get waived, and we (being one of the first out of "many" teams..not that many really) went out of the way to contact him after his release...just like Stro, imho DA is going to be a future Rocket, just a matter of time really . <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Lakers Turn Attention to McKie Though Anderson is still an option, Kupchak is negotiating with the former 76er guard, who is thought to be Jackson's preference. By Mark Heisler, Times Staff Writer After taking a week to study their options, the Lakers on Wednesday opened negotiations to bring in a new starting point guard ? not with Derek Anderson, but with Aaron McKie. Until General Manager Mitch Kupchak contacted McKie's agent, Leon Rose, the Lakers had been focused on Anderson. The switch is thought to have been prompted by Coach Phil Jackson, who decided he preferred the 6-foot-5, 210-pound McKie, who is bigger and more solid if not as talented as Anderson. The Lakers still have their $5.2 million veterans' exception and are hoping to split it for two players, either a guard and a big man, or two guards. </div> SOURCE with us and Lakers being one of the first of couple of teams to have contacted DA right after his release (meaning, they are showing very high interest in him)...after reading this article, I'm pretty sure we <u>WILL</u> end up with him. (just my perspective)

Ok's didn't here bout the Finley rumours with the semi-final teams. DA is definitely our 1st priority now. With Sura and James, we don't need Payton. If Sura has injury probs, James, Head and Ward can still hold their own. If our SG's are injured aswell as Bowen, we are stuffed. We would have T-Mac playing 48 mins per game at the SF position. we can't do that to him if we want to be contenders for years to come.

Anderson, a free agent who wanted and expected to be sent to the Rockets in a February trade with Portland, visited with coach Jeff Van Gundy and other club officials Thursday as the Rockets sought the versatile guard for their last roster spot.
