The Jazz are mainly in pursuit of guards. Among guards waived Monday in the NBA's one-time amnesty deal that will save teams from having the salaries of those waived count on their luxury tax were Dallas's Michael Finley (said to be leaning toward signing with Miami), Minnesota's Fred Hoiberg (June 28 heart surgery and June 30 pacemaker implant), Indiana's Reggie Miller (retiring) and New Jersey's Ron Mercer (played in only18 games last season because of several injuries).</div>
