Quote:

Vlady?s side and the Sonics talked yesterday. They are still at a point were they agree to disagree. The Sonics have upped their offer to 6 year 42 million with incentives and the Vlady wants $50 million guarantee. At this point Radmanovic camp is waiting out an offer from some other team. If that doesn?t happen, which seems unlikely, they can sign the 1-year $3.2 million tender before October 1st. Radmanovic?s camp still believes that the free agent market is robust and they are better off becoming an unrestricted free agent next season. Their belief is that they will be able to get substantially more in the opening market next year then the $42 million dollar offer the Sonics are offering. The Sonics are standing pat.
Locked On Sports. Amazing. I have even heard the deal is $42 mill guaranteed and could potentially go up to $50 mill with incentives. For a 6th man who, while potentially very dangerous, is also inconsistant, that's a very good deal. Seattle is coming to the party here, and Bauman is snubbing the invite. Atlanta won't offer him big bucks after signing Joe and Zaza and having a glut of swingmen. Unless New Orleans offers the 50+, I don't see how he's not back in Seattle next season. If it's on a one year tender, think he's going to get the start? No way. He will regret this as it stands.

Who knows what will happen, but I'd still be suprised to see him leave all that guaranteed money on the table. Similiar to Rashard, I would expect him to begrudingly resign. Whats really ridiculous is that he's complaining about a difference of 8 million. He must really think that he'll get alot more next offseason because if you factor in that he would basically be consenting to a 3 million dollar pay cut this season, and couple with it the fact that another team can only offer him 5 years, his offer from someone else would have to be HUGE to justify taking the risk of losing it all. I would break it down like this.... Rad wants: 6yr 50 million = 8.333 million per season Mgmt Offer: 6yr 42 million = 7 million per season If he signs the tender and assuming someone next year will pay him his demand: 1yr QO = 3.2 million 5yr 41.67 million So for a grand total of 44.87 million, not even 3 million more over 6 seasons, he's willing to risk 42 million of guaranteed money. It just doesn't make sense, but even if he signs the QO I'll look on the brightside. I'll bet Rad on the tender is a better rebounder than Rad on a long term deal
His agent must have some incentives built in, like if he can negotiate 50 million guaranteed he gets an extra 0.1%. Vlad is an idiot if he turns this down. From Hughes' ESPN column if we sign him to the QO we sit him down all year and let his stats drop to 8 and 4. Just out of spite I guess, heh.
Well it's almost a catch-22 in a way - he wants starter's money and his agent thinks he's going to become a star (as all agents do), but if incentives get the deal up to $50 mill, then they must be the sort of incentives Vlad assumes he can achieve anyway in order to get that $50 mill guaranteed. In short, if you think you're an All-Star in the making, then prove it, and the incentives in your deal will get you up to the $50 mill.
^ True. I still dont think Vladimir is even worth the 7 million per season, hes just a bench player, who is very inconsistent and is injured alot. I say we try to invest on someone else[For cheaper] because Vladimir is just being a problem for us right now. Atleast sign and trade.
All he is trying to do is see how good the other teams think he is. It's like, he's looking to boost his ego by seeing whether anybody will offer him more money. When he notices nobody will give him more money, he'll stay in Seattle.
Radman couldn't start for 75% of the teams in the NBA, he should sign this generous offer and worry about improving his game instead of his bank account. No other teams actively pursued Radman, otherwise he would have signed an offer sheet already. How about working out a sign and trade with the Hornets? Petro + Radman for Magloire + Nachbar ? Sonics get a legitimate center to start for them instead of forcing Collison to play out of position. They also get some shooting back with Nachbar. He hit 37% from behind the arc last season. In New Orleans, Radman can masquerade as the starting PF there, and fit in with the uptempo style Byron Scott likes to run. Plus the Hornets get a young center back in Petro. They can afford the 4 year wait before Petro starts contributing.
Given New Orleans were interested in Vlad earlier in the offseason, my guess is any possible Magloire trade would have been discussed and dismissed. I doubt even New Orleans want to give him the sort of money he's looking for.
