Kobe & KG Working Out in Malibu <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Former Gopher Kris Humphries of the Utah Jazz is working out with the Timberwolves' Kevin Garnett and the Lakers' Kobe Bryant in Malibu, Calif., this week. If they had not turned professional, the 6-10 Rickert would be a senior this year and Humphries a junior for the Gophers.</div> Source
Now that's one duo that could work for the Lakers. Apparently they get along very well and KG is not afraid to distribute the ball. If you look at the Timberwolves stats, he leads in most of the categories (pts, ast, rbds, etc.). If I was Mitch K, I would seriously push to get KG on the Lakers. Who knows, maybe that's going to be the 2006 post season big Laker move.....

Kobe will want his 25 shots a game and KG will want his to. What about Odom? He'll be wanting some shots as well. That definately ain't gonna work.
There was a guy on jbb that claims to be related to bus. he mentioned KG coming to LA months ago. it may have even been late last year. Maybe hes no farse or maybe its just a coincidence. BUt if KG moved to Hollywood that city would go nuts. GL LA!
Don't get too, hyped about it, KG has lived in Malibu for the last 3 years and has two homes in Malibu. He usually spends his summers in California and was also at the Summer League Games at Long Beach.

Odem is not a guy who cares about numbers at this point in his career. After the horrible season last year all he wants is to win. But its really up to Phil. If He doesnt think KG is good for LA it aint gonna happen. If they Run it by Phil and he likes the idea believe me the Lakers have a history of making things happen. GL LA!

He knows he can't win in Minnesota with the roster and horrible chemistry they have. I think KG would be willing to sacrifice some numbers for gold.
Unless they restructure his contract, and do a trade that involves Bynum and Odom, there's no way this is happening. All of this talk just because they work out together.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">KG has gotten to the point where numbers don't matter to him anymore, that dude just wants to win. </div> It was the same with GP and Malone in 03-04.They still havent won it,and the Lakers were less cohesive as a team after adding them.<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I think KG would be willing to sacrifice some numbers for gold.</div> Why the lakers though? Why assume that KG,along with everyother player, has the best chance of getting a championship in LA?Other teams wouldnt be better with KG than LA would be with KG? KG is always around Cali in the summers, don't read too much into it. In fact, he was just at my school gym in UCLA playing ball with some nba players like Pierce, Bdiddy, etc

Its just an attractive team to hook up with.
Kobe and KG would be sick, This would be cool if this would happen, then I get to see my boy Kobe back on top. And yeah, KG probably doesnt care what he averages, hes almost 30 years old and ringless, I would think he would want to get traded, I mean..Why not?
I knew that people would jump to the conclusion that he's coming to LA. Kevin is always linked to LA for some reason. Him and Kobe get along really well and yes Kobe and KG would work because Shaq and Kobe worked. KG's idol was Magic Johnson and I think he supported the Lakers aswell when he was younger. That is another things that KG and Kobe have in common. This deal won't happen until KG becomes a free agent. If he does decide to come to LA, hopefully the Timberwolves fans won't give him the Vince Carter treatment as they do in Toronto.
Most players prefer to be with teams that have one of three features: 1. winning seasons 2. attractive environment whether it being the fans or the actual city and 3. all of the above. The question is, why should KG go to LA? Simple, because IT'S LA! The best franchise in ever in the NBA (other than Boston) and because the best all around player, Kobe Bryant, who he knows well, plays there.

There are key elements to that and they are Malone's injuries and GP frustrations about minutes. KG is young, healthy, and does not cause as many problems as Gary Payton. Why do the Lakers have the best chance? because KG is the missing piece that will make the Lakers tick. This Laker team is reminiscent to the Lakers of the late 90's. They had a good young squad that couldn't quite get it done. Then Phil Jackson comes along and gives them three rings. Now KG will act as the Phil Jackson by giving success to this team.
The difference is that when we had Malone, we had Payton, Kobe and Shaq, along with Phil! Why was it that when we had two ego's in Kobe and Shaq we were unbeatable? I can compare this with soccer. Real Madrid are in the same position as the Lakers(except not as bad). When they had a couple of star players in Luis Figo and Raul, they were the team to beat. They won everything. They added a player called Zinidine Zidane, another "All Star," and they were still winning. But then, they added two more stars in Ronaldo and David Beckham. Since then, they have been nowhere near what they were, despite having a better squad. They can't even win the Spanish league. A few years ago, they could win that league without even having the right number of players on the pitch. Anyway, enough of that. People are making it out as if the 2004 campaign was bad. Lets face it, we still didn't do as bad as people are making out. We still made the finals, sure we got beaten badly, but the fact is, we still made the finals. Something that shouldn't be taken for granted. It was made out to be a disastrous season. Sure, for our standards, it wasn't the best, but lets be realistic now, we ended up as the number two team in the NBA. Not bad at all.
The KG to Lakers is a Catch-22 situation. The only way the TWolves trade KG is if he demands a trade from the team and demands a short list of destinations. However, KG does not have the type of personality to make these demands and quit on the organization. Another road block is Kevin McHale, who hates the Lakers and would not want to be the person responsible for getting them back on track to the NBA Finals. So unless McHale steps down, or is fired, then it's highly unlikely KG will be a Laker. The best the Lakes can hope for is the TWolves get off to a terrible start and the organization starts making changes across the board and goes into a rebuilding mode. I'd be willing to trade Odom, Kwame, and the 2006 pick to get KG from the TWolves. I'll take proven superstar over potential 10 out of 10 times.

So why wouldn't he go to New York, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, etc? They are all winning teams, with the exception of New York, and are all great cities. I don't even know why Laker fans talk about KG going to LA. Because he practiced with Kobe? He's been living in Cali for a while now I believe.
