If you could pick a starting lineup of 5 college players, any players in the country, who would they be? Pick a point guard, two wings, and two post players. Here's mine: PG Chris Hernandez Floor general who can score, defend, has great range on his jumper. He's a true leader. SG Mardy Collins Mr. Everything. He scores, rebounds, can play the point, creates, defends. He's a total package. SF Ronnie Brewer Very much the same as Collins. He can do it all, but he's probably an even better athlete than Collins. Reminds me of a yound Desmond Mason who is a better playmaker. PF Greg Brunner I loved Mike Wilkinson during his career with my Badgers. This guy is almost the same person as Wilkinson. Hard working, can score, rebound, create. He just busts his butt every night and is one of the most underrated players in the country. C Sheldon Williams This was a pretty tough pick, but you've gotta love a guy who can go 15/10 with 5 blocks every night. A big time defensive presence who can score quite a bit, too. 6th man: Dee Brown I just couldn't leave him off this list!
Nice thread I'll give it a go: PG - Rajon Rondo: The defensive part of his college game is there and the offensive part of his game will be there shortly. He's one of the nations top defenders already after his freshman season. SG - Shannon Brown: Small, but what he lacks in height he makes up in his athletic ability which is through the roof. I have been predicting Brown would have a breakout year ever since I saw him verses North Carolina in the final four. SF - Ronnie Brewer: Big, athletic, defensive player that like Schaddy said can do just about anything on the floor. Alot of people also forget that Brewer, along with Mardy Collins, does have the ability to play the point if they have to. PF - Craig Smith: He is a bit undersized for his position here because he would be better off playing the small forward but he can go both ways. He put up consistant numbers the three years he was at BC and was the main reason for their great season last year. C - Sheldon Williams: I had a tough time putting a Duke player on this list but Sheldon is just head and shoulders above the rest of the centers if you ask me. He dominated the ACC blocks last season, and welcomed Marvin Williams to college ball with a nasty block to remember. 6th Man - Rodney Carney: He is too inconsistant to make the starting five but with his athletic ability he'll serve well on the bench. One night you'll see him go out for 33 points like he did against St Mary's and one night you'll see him drop 6 points against Ole Miss. He's a great player and with time he'll be a hell of a pro player but he just can't beat out Shannon Brown or Ronnie Brewer for the starting spot. No Tarheels make the list
PG: Dee Brown-best pg hands down SG: JJ Redick-dont like him but the best shooter in the country-hands down SF: Adam Morrison-best all around player in the country PF: Josh Boone-shot blocker with developing offensive skills C: Sheldon Williams-when he is not in the game, Duke usually falls apart 6th man: Jared Dudley-all energy all of the time Honorable mention: Rudy Gay, Mardy Collins, G Diaz, Craig Smith, Daniel Gibson, Steve Smith, Chris Hernandez, Eric Williams
PG - Jordan Farmar (UCLA) - He's probably not as talented as Darius Washington, but I think he's a better Point Guard, in the sense that he's not a shoot-first player. If I had to build a team around either Farmar or Washington, I'd probably pick Washington, because of what a prolific scorer he is. The other players on this starting lineup need someone who can hit them with the ball in the right spot and set them up for the score though, and that's Farmar. BTW - Does anyone else notice how most great Point Guards leave after two or three years now? I had to chose between three incoming Sophomores (Farmar, Washington, Gibson) for this selection. It should be Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Raymond Felton, or even John Gilchrist that I'm picking here. SG - Dee Brown (Illinois) - A lot of you people are picking Dee Brown as your Point Guard. That's where he'll end up in the pro's, but I wouldn't force him to make the transition on the college level if I were constructing a Dream Team. He was one of the top Shooting Guards in the nation this previous season, and that's where I'll keep him. SF - Shannon Brown (Michigan State) - Just like his High School teammate, Dee Brown, you'll see that Brown has the versatility to play anything from Point Guard to Small Forward (his likely position for next season). I personally see him as one of the five most talented players in the NCAA. I'm still not sold on the idea of him becoming a star next season, because the role that he plays alongside All-American candidate Maurice Ager isn't exactly one that frequently allows for a lot of scoring opportunities, but if I had to construct a team, he'd definitely have to crack the starting lineup. PF - Shelden Williams (Duke) - I think that Williams should be everyone's consensus starting Power Forward or Center right now. There are a lot of players like Aldridge, McRoberts, and Horford who could turn out to be better players this year, but I don't see the point in gambling on one of them when you're trying to win in the present and an experienced bruiser like Williams is available. I'd play him at Center, but I'd rather have both Padgett and Williams in my starting line than Milsap and Williams; it's a hell of a lot more size. C - David Padgett (Louisville) - I had to make one big gamble, and this is it. Padgett has yet to prove himself on the NCAA level because of injuries and transfer regulations, but if his High School career was any indication, he should surprise a lot of people with Louisville this season. To be honest, I was going to put the bigger and more experienced Paul Davis in this spot, but I took him out at the unnecessary risk of sounding biased. 6th man - Paul Milsap (Louisianna Tech) - He plays in a small conference and most importantly, he's undersized, so the odds of him being a lottery pick look slim. However, the college level is a different story. Milsap is probably the best rebounder in the nation going into this season. I'd take this core over any of the cores posted in this thread so far.
PG-Chris Hernandez- Like Schaddy said, this guy can lead any team no matter how bad they are. If Standford didn't have him the last couple of years, they would have been in deep trouble. SG-J.J. Reddick- J.J. is the ultimate shooting guard, he can shoot lights out from downtown and close games with his near perfect free throw shooting. He will dominate this year. SF-Mardy Collins- Mardy can play some of the Best D in the nation. He is a leader that will stop anyone from scoring 20 points a night. He can also play PG, to show his versatile. PF-Nick Fazekas- Every since his Freshman year, he's been dominating the WAC and the rest of the NCAA. He was a big part of the reason Nevada made a cinderella run 2 years ago. C-Shelden Williams- The 2nd Dukie to make this list, how much I hate to do that He can block shots, post up players, and be a dominating big man. Bench: Darius Washington Jr. LeMarcus Aldridge Hassan Adams Jordan Farmar Leon Powe Mustafa Shakur Josh Boone
I'd have PG Darius Washington cuz he did really well as a freshman and you can tell he's the kind of leader you want to have as a point guard. SG JJ Redick I don't really like Duke all that much but the guy can flat out shoot it. SF Alando Tucker come on, you didn't think I'd pass up a Badger? He's a great scorer and a tough competitor who steps up in big games. PF Sheldon Williams he does all the things you want a big man to do. C Paul Davis he's the best center in a tough conference, which makes him the kinda guy you wanna have fighting in the paint for your team others I like Dee Brown, Mardy Collins, Adam Morrison, Josh Boone. They can all play on my bench any time
flip My Team: PG - Daniel Gibson from Texas SG - JJ Reddick from Duke SF - Ronnie Brewer from Arkansas PF - Shelden Williams from Duke C - Josh Boone from UConn
Pg-Taquan Dean,louisville SG-Shannon Brown,MSU SF-Hasaan Adams,Zona PF-Craig Smith,BC C-Shelden Willams,DUKE Bench/2nd team: Mustafa Shakur,ZONA Justin Gray,WAKE Rajon Rondo,UK Josh Boone,UCONN Alando Tucker,WISC Dee Brown,ILL Rudy Gay,UCONN Eric Williams,WAKE I kno im forgetten someone,but o well.
PG- Daniel Gibson/Mardy Collins SG- J.J. Redick/Shannon Brown SF- Adam Morrison/Rudy Gay PF- Craig Smith/Eric Williams C- Sheldon Williams/Paul Davis
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting JWohl:</div><div class="quote_post">My Team: PG - Daniel Gibson from Texas SG - JJ Reddick from Duke SF - Ronnie Brewer from Arkansas PF - Shelden Williams from Duke C - Josh Boone from UConn</div> I agree with that lineup except why is Daniel Gibson making peoples list? He is a great point guard don't get me wrong but there are about a half-dozen point guards that I would want leading my team to the final four such as Shannon Brown, Darius Washington, Jordan Farmer, Rajon Rondo, Mardy Collins, Dee Brown, and Chris Hernandez. He had an amazing freshman season but you have to remember he was the only legit scorer on the team.

I halfway agree with you though. Gibson was able to put up those numbers for more reasons than the fact that he was considered the "only legit scorer", but it's true that he shouldn't be on these 'Dream Teams', because of the fact that he's a score-first Point Guard that's still young and inexperienced (just like Darius Washington). A guy like Jordan Farmar is just as young and inexperienced, but he's the kind of player that looks out for the needs of his teammates over his own needs; the type of Point Guard every coach in America wants on their team, and that's why I picked him.
Dee Brown is actually more of a point gurad voodoo child,i dont kno why dee brown stop playin point last year, cuz he was the point gurad until like mid season.

He can play both, just like all the other players I mentioned. However, he's had the best results playing Shooting Guard, so I think that's where he should be played on a fantasy team.
Yea ok,i see what ur sayin, but his size, quickness, and court vision make him more of a point 2 me.He will be point in da NBA most likely.
