Boston has a love-hate relationship with him. The Celtics are rebuilding. After seven seasons of being the best reason to watch a franchise stuck in the stale nostalgia of its long-gone glory days, Pierce could use a fresh address.

Denver is among the teams that have been tempted to take on Pierce's silky shot and rough personality in trade, but the demands of Celtics general manager Danny Ainge have been too high for the Nuggets to bite.

    Ray Allen:
He was sleepless in Seattle, restless to leave. Allen returned to the Sonics as a free agent only because there was not a viable alternative. Before Allen signed a five-year, $80 million contract this month, the Nuggets heard he might be willing to play for less in Denver.

At age 30, Allen was apparently ready to put an old feud with Karl to bed. Vandeweghe, however, could not figure any way that made sense to fit the game's most dangerous shooter under the salary cap.

Michael Finley: After Dallas released Finley to save big bucks, the teams jumping in line to woo him were Miami, Detroit, San Antonio and Phoenix. Which only goes to prove that Finley might be 32, but is still regarded as a winner.

Vandeweghe told me if Finley joined the team, Denver could be as good as anybody in the league. Because Finley wants to win a championship now, however, Vandeweghe believes there is little or no chance he will sign with the Nuggets. Which only goes to prove not everybody in the NBA likes Denver's talent as much as Vandeweghe does.

The Nuggets are willing to welcome starting guard Voshon Lenard back from an Achilles injury and wager Karl can do whatever it takes to win a weak Northwest Division, which would secure home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs.

Want to gamble on greatness? Here's a smarter bet: Dangle forward Kenyon Martin and Lenard in a trade to Boston for Pierce. The salary cap details of the deal would not be hard to figure. </div>

Yeah the nuggets have been pretty quiet this offseason. But Ray Ray stayed with Sonics and the teams that probably gon get Finley are Heat or Pistons. The Nuggets might want to go after pierce although im not sure if Melo and Pierce would work.

They should pursue Flip Murray. The guy is a very good scorer and may come pretty cheap.

Well, let's take a look at things. It doesn't seem like there are any big time 2 guards left on the open market right now, and that would be the position of need in Denver. So they have to look at trading. The only real trading piece that they have who would draw much interest from other teams appears to be Nene. I know that they would like to get rid of Andre Miller, but they would almost certainly have to include Nene in any deal for him, because they'd be looking for an upgrade at the point and that doesn't come cheap.

One trade I could see them trying to make would be something along the lines of Miller and Nene to Orlando for Steve Francis, DeShawn Stevenson and Tony Battie/Kelvin Cato. Orlando would be getting the better of that deal, but Francis is the only top point guard who comes to mind that I can actually see getting traded. Orlando's made no secret about their wishes to get Jameer Nelson more time at the point, and now they have Dooling, too. That's just a thought, it may well be totally crazy [IMG]

I see the logic in the trade for Francis, but what would Miller play on the Magic? 2? If he was still gonna play PG the Magic couldn't and shouldn't even consider that trade.

I think he could play some at the 2. The way it's looking now, the Magic are going to have a 1 playing the 2 for a lot of minutes every game anyways, so why not pick up a good young big man if you're going to have that anyways? Just a thought...
