<div class="quote_poster">Quoting LA Times:</div><div class="quote_post">Ending their search for a point guard, or at least a Phil Jackson-type point guard, the Lakers have agreed to terms with another candidate no one could have predicted, Aaron McKie. "We've come to an agreement," said McKie's agent, Leon Rose, from his home in Pennsauken, N.J., Sunday. "Everything will get done over the course of the next few days.</div> Finally, we have a starting PG! I'd still like to see DA in purple and gold though. Read More...
If no one came to the Lakers, i would have been willing to play PG for 1 mil a year, but i guess they dont need me anymore
Finally! A PG! So much better than Sasha...wasn't that just disgusting thinking that he was our starting PG for a span of time during this offseason?
Apparently Phil prefers McKie. At least we have one point gaurd now. I don't think we will get DA now. I thought we were going to get the first person who decided to accept the offer?

As for McKie coming to L.A, I wish him the best. He will always be a Sixer at heart and I hope he does well. I honestly didn't want him to go. However, I'm convinced that he won't do too well in L.A. If he had a hard time in Philly the last couple years and was coming off the bench playing against the scrubs not to mention playing no more than 12 MPG, I honestly can't see him doing very well in the starting lineup for such a prime-time/demanding team like the Lakers. If Phil Jackson wanted a players coach he should have gone after Eric Snow. When it's all said McKie will either be traded, coming off the bench or on the IR if the Lakers are expecting him to start and initiate an enitre offense. And being a supporter of McKie I want to see the complete opposite but looking at actual facts and probabilities I just can?t see him doing very well.
They do not expect him to initiate the offense, Odom will be the primary ball handler in the Tri. I'm also concerned with McKie, but he's the big guard, triple threat player PJax likes in the backcourt. He's not quick enough to stay in front of most PGs, but the Lakers have the length on the floor to spread teams out wide. McKie 6-5 Kobe 6-6 Odom 6-10 Kwame 7-0 Mihm 7-0 I'm sure McKie will get the starting position, and it will be his job to lose. Hopefully he can stay healthy and give the Lakers solid production. The Lakers still have the other half of the MLE to spend and LLE.
I love the big team. All we need now is a couple of bench players and then everyone would believe we could make the playoff's. Also, isn't Kobe 6-7?
no <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Laker_fan:</div><div class="quote_post"> Also, isn't Kobe 6-7?</div> Aside from being inconsequential Kobe is listed by NBA.com as 6-6. link

I think Calvin Booth is going to be one of the players they sign for the LLE, and I have no idea who they are after for the other half of the MLE.
On paper this is the worst team in the West. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting trenchteam:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah! Watch out! We have our PG! CHAMPIONSHIP BABY! </div> Hopefully we sign up David Blaine as an assistant coach because it will take some kinda magic to make this bunch contenders. Using last years statistics this has to be the worst team in Laker history on paper. If Phil gets 35 wins from this bunch he should get coach of the year.

Same with Mckie who was in a weird rotation in Philly that changed once Webber got there. Not to mention Lamar was playing out of position. I agree, this lineup is kinda shaky but I either see it being really good or....well not so really good. I've said b4 I think WCF if everything goes right, but they need some depth on their bench...

McKie is a great player but I never thought he was a PG, I always thought he was an SG because of his shooting ability in NBA Live lol. Hopefully this pans out for the Lakers and they can get a winning record again.
Mckie a point guard? on what planet? he has never been a point guard, never will be and now he is getting older and his knees continue to get worse he should be nothing more than Kobe's back-up. Mitch is really destroying the Lakers into the ground quickly. I actually miss seeing L.A at the top, the NBA isn't the same without the arrogance known as the L.A Lakers. I don't know when the Lakers will sniff the playoffs again. With Phil returning all the Lakers could get with some of their MLE was Aaron Mckie? ouch.
