well, we're looking like a nice team now but will still be 4th seed because the spurs are in our division
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting moeinhouston:</div><div class="quote_post">You gotta be kidding me. Stack and Finley had field days posting Wesley. Mcgrady had to switch over when they got hot and hold them down. And putting Barry on either two wasn't not even close to the answer. </div> Stackhouse shot- 4-13, 3-8, 4-12, 3-10, 6-13, 9-16, and 4-10. Finley shot- 2-8, 4-9, 6-10, 8-13, 5-10, 6-16, and 5-13. Those are field days? I'd say Stackhouse really just had two great days with a couple of mediocre and bad days scattered around. Meanwhile, Finley did great in three days with a lot of the other ones bad. At first I thought they crushed Wesley too but upon inspection of the numbers, you really got to go the other way.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">Anderson is a good perimeter and mid range shooter. It's just that he has too much of a scorer's mentality and forces up shots pretty often. I don't believe that he'd have much freedom to do that, so we should be seeing DA's FG percentage on the rise. Shape, I'm not so sure about trading away Wesley. Although I realize that expiring contracts are very valuable on the trade market, I don't know if Wesley is someone we could afford to lose. He is our best perimeter defender and now that we have a duo of Anderson and Wesley, teams would find it harder to exploit our lack of size at shooting guard. Norris and Baker both have expiring contracts too, and it'd be more sensible to trade them. How do you guys see Jon Barry figuring into the rotation now that Anderson and Wesley would probably take up at least 45 minutes a game?</div> I'm not saying they will or won't trade Wesley, but they have insurance now with DA in-case they do decide to make a move.
This is an excellent addition for the Rockets. They have realy done a great job bringing in talent this season and I think they have put themselves on the top tier of teams of in the NBA. They have surrounded their stars, Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, with athletic role players who have good all around games. The Rockets have went out and had a very active offseason and I think it will pay off when the playoffs come around next season.
And remember none of the mav guards could keep up with James when he went off, except Armstrong with his ability to stay in front of him.</div> You're right. Stackhouse KILLED Wesley. Finley looked like MJ out there for a minute, and Terry looked like he should have been a hall of famer.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">Finley looked like MJ out there for a minute</div> Don't Ever Say that again. Haha, but yea the Dallas guards were killing ours. It mostly happened when Van Horn got hurt. They started playing smaller and that made it alot harder for the Rockets defensively.
I've heard rumors that Spree STILL might be comin to Houston. I just want to say that Carroll Dawson is THE MAN OF 2005. We should have a Carroll Dawson appreciation thread. The guy is making some major moves that is probably making other teams VERY nervous. If we aquire Spree, it will add another spark to a already GREAT offseason!!!
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">You had me laughin my ass off!!!!! Great to hear, we are legitimate contenders now</div> Man I have been waiting for this day ever since we were eliminated from the playoffs last year. We have a complete roster that contains 2 stars and 3 role players. I would prefer that line up over Lakers/Miami's ALL-Star line up. Those just never seem to workout in the long run. Seriously though, T-Mac has been on Yao's case (remember game 2/7 Rockets vs. Mavs playoffs) If they can run that screen and roll + cut to the basket...then they will be unstoppable. This summer I heard they have been practicing it a lot.
I like Anderson, but the only thing I'm really worried about are his health issues..He's missed a LOT of games in the past two seasons so I really hope he already has his health fixed when he starts playing for the Rockets..please oh please be healthy
I think CD has done an awesome job this summer getting new guys into Houston like Stro and DA....we are major contenders this year! we should start a thread with matchups against each other NBA team...just thought that would be cool..lol....or I'm just weird...haha
There's an exclusive video Interview with Derek Anderson or Rockets.com http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Anderson_B...149459-822.html Here's How The Interview Starts Anderson - "Houston We Have a Problem, I am Ready" Interviewer - "It's A Good Problem"
I like it! Team Highlight Reel indeed! I think he'll be good for us, and out Backcourt problems should be solved, if not furthermore patched up! I can't wait to see how we do next season! Also are we done? Do you think we're gonna sign anyone else? Sorry if this question has already been asked but I haven't had time to read all the posts!
I don't think any major moves will be made now that we already have reached all the goals we'd set at the beginning of the offseason. However, we could see a few minor additions/subtractions. To free up a roster spot, the team might release one of Norris, Baker or Ward, then proceed to sign someone from the summer league like Lonny Baxtor or Dion Glover. I doubt that such moves would have any serious impact on the team though.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RoXoR:</div><div class="quote_post">now that we have our backcourt covered, its time to take out the trash (Baker, Moochie, Ward will have to get cut or traded eventually)...and make some room to sign Baxtor (for insurance just in case Howard goes down again)..then I would call this offseason a total success </div> Even at this stage of his career, Vin Baker is better than what Baxter will ever be.
^^^^^^Vin Baker is garbage right now.....he's so bad that he didn't even get minutes in garbage time last year
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Rockets made their pitch, and Derek Anderson was convinced. He knew just what the Rockets wouldn't offer. They could not promise a starting position. They would not guarantee minutes. They could not offer money, at least compared with the riches he had received in Portland or could find elsewhere. Anderson was sold. "That first day I left (Portland), I was looking around and said, 'You know, Houston has something,' " said Anderson, who signed a two-year contract, the second at his option, with the Rockets on Tuesday. "I could have started for a couple of teams (he considered). They automatically told me that I was going to get a lot of minutes and start and I wouldn't even have a big challenge (for playing time.) I could have gone somewhere and got paid. But to win a championship, I didn't think I had that opportunity anywhere except here. I think it was a far better fit to come here." Anderson, 31, released Aug. 3 in the NBA's first luxury-tax amnesty cut, had other tempting offers. He visited or talked with the Pistons, Heat, Timberwolves and Lakers. The Lakers offered him a contract starting at $2.5 million and all the point guard minutes he could handle. Instead, he took the Rockets' smaller salary-cap exception, worth $1.67 million the first season, and a chance to compete in a crowded backcourt for playing time. But he said championship aspirations and possibilities were the driving forces in his decision. "I just know this is the type of place you could do that," Anderson said. "You get your team together, build around it and you have an opportunity to win. That's what they've been doing. Then, when they got Stromile (Swift), I was like 'whoa.' I mean, they're serious. "(Players around the league) were like, 'Wow, you guys are really loading up now.' It's not like it's loaded to the point where everybody has to dominate the ball or take control of anything. Guys around the league are saying, 'You got a good team, you just have to put it together.' "</div> Source
