It sounds like there are some trades in the works. "We've got plenty of time to work that out," Babcock said. "We're still pursuing trades and some of the potential trades could help us balance out our roster." Toronto Sun So here's a thought Toronto trades Loren Woods Eric Williams ----> Memphis Aaron Williams Denver 1st round pick 2006 ---> N.O Hornets Memphis trades Lorenzen Wright ---> N.O Hornets N.O Hornets trades Jamaal Magloire ---> Toronto <div align="center">------</div> We would clear up two spots and we can still sign a min salary PG N.O would replace their center and build on their future. Memphis would get some defensive presense and allow Hakim Warrick to play more SF. Yah, I like playing on REALGM
Actually that's not too bad, of a trade you got going there. It's an even deal for all three sides and N.O gets a future pick too. Great trade for the Raptors, as they get Maglorie and Bosh in the post.
Memphis get's shafted, they get contracts, and nothing else they can really say they want. They already have enough SF's, so Eric Williams is not really useful, and Loren Woods and Aaron Williams aren't really that good, though Woods gives then height.
Ummmm.....I think Toronto is getting to much of a deal here, basically it's a couple of scratches and a draft for Magloire. And why would Memphis even consider this? And there is no point of getting Magloire now, we can just sign him when his contract expires.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting the_rap:</div><div class="quote_post"> And there is no point of getting Magloire now, we can just sign him when his contract expires.</div> He is an UFA the same year CB4 is. I doubt we would have the money to sign him after locking Bosh up. If we get him this year he will play 2 season with the Raps then sign a 1 yr contract so he would qualify for the Larry Bird rule. Players need to play for a team for min 3 seasons.

As for the cap, that's the reason teams use up their capspace to sign UFAs first and then go over the cap to lock up their own RFAs. Players under bird rights can be re-signed or extended regardless of the cap situation but non-bird players (a.k.a. UFA) cannot be signed if the team is over the cap.
Update on the trade progress: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The chances of the Raptors making some sort of multi-player trade to ease a roster logjam are getting better every day. With Matt Bonner now officially back in the fold and the roster standing at 15 players with guaranteed contracts, general manager Rob Babcock said he's working hard to swing some sort of deal. It seems to be working, although nothing is set yet. "Two weeks ago, I'd have said it was a 30 per cent chance; I'd say it's creeping up on 50-50 now that we'll do something," Babcock said in a telephone interview last night.</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"We've got some discussions going now where both teams are willing to do something if something else happens," Babcock said.</div> http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentSe...ol=970081562040

He's like a pipe up our asses right now, just wasting free roster space. It pisses me off, hehe. I'm pretty sure somehow we will get Magloire before the end of the Summer...I hope.
Well, I guess we'd still have enough space to get a PG, which is our primary goal after we could get Magloire...right?
I was just wondering...why don't the Raps look at Steve Blake, PG in Washington. I think he's underrated and if given the opportunity, can even become a star PG. He's not in the radar much, but I think he's got game. I mean, Washington just added Atkins and A. Daniels to their roster and I think they may be shopping Blake. Just wondering what you guys think.
That is a very, very wishful trade scenario. We're talking Jerry West of the Grizzlies not Rob Babcock. There is now way in hell West would trade for 2 washed up guys in the Williams' who have bloated contracts that don't even expire next year.
Well, Babcock better pull something out of his *in lil john voice* OOOOOOOKAY....I still think the Raps will do something either incredibly smart or incredibly ignorant before November.

No GM would want to be dealing with him unless if it were Chris Bosh.
I'm just hoping we can get rid of guys like Lamond Murray, Aaron Williams so that we can clear some cap room and get some quality guys in. Jarrett Jack would be an amazing addition or even Banks.

What has Rob Babcock done, other than the selection of Araujo, that gives him any lesser credibility? Even the Araujo selection doesn't give him any more of a bad name than selections like Michael Olowokandi with 1st overall pick (Kevin McHale) and Darko Milicic with 2nd overall pick (Joe Dumars). I'm sick of people bashing Babcock just because Steven 'A' hole Smith bashes him. FYI, Aaron Williams expires this year and Eric Williams expires next year. I wouldn't exactly call their contracts 'bloated', because Aaron only earns about $3.8 million and Eric earns about $4.5 million a year. Aaron used to be the starting center in New Jersey in K-Mart era, and Eric Williams was a starter in Cleveland barely a year ago.
