The deal is worth $2.08 million, according to his agent, Mark Termini.

Edwards, a 7-foot center, averaged 1.2 points and .8 rebounds while averaging 5.6 minutes in 25 games with the Indiana Pacers last season.

He made the Pacers out of training camp on a non-guaranteed contract. He was able to hang on to his roster spot after three players were given lengthy suspensions following a brawl with the Detroit Pistons in November.</div>

I hope he's underrated because I dont think too much of this signing, I was hoping for Darius Songaila or some other big man left in the market.

He adds something the Hawks lack, SIZE. They only had one 7-footer prior to this signing, Jason Collier. I doubt Edwards is much better than Collier, but he can clog the middle at 7 feet / 275 lbs. I was really surprised the Hawks didn't pursue Steven Hunter more. He's a mobile 7 footer, which fits their team perfectly, and signed for a reasonable offer. He's also familiar with Joe Johnson, and would be the starter on the Hawks.

Please dont say that Shape, I'm starting to not like the Hawks slowly because when I think about it they havent done anything that will significantly help them this offseason. I think they should trade Josh Childress to the Bobcats for Sean May. That would help us a lot and it wouldnt make such a jam in the rotation we could play JJ at the 2, Salim at point, Marvin and Josh are interchangeable and then we would have May and Zaza in the paint.

I'm starting to halusinate(sp?) when I think about where the Hawks are headed next season. Sorry, if I put this offtopic.

^ that's pretty harsh dude. first of all this edwards abosultely THRASHED Andrew Bogut in the Summer League, so he's obiously not half bad. I have a feeling he's more than we think he is.

I like the optimism, but don't put much stock in any summer league game, good or bad. He scored 9 points against Bogut.

The sad thing is that the Bobcats would probably rather have May on their bench than Childress starting. Lets just say their marketing ideas need some revising...

your not kidding. they're too worried about getting local guys than getting talent. they had 2 chances at gerald green, a potential star, and passed on him.

Edwards hasnt been signed yet according to the Hawks site, he's not on the roster and the latest news they have up is the JJ deal. Was this a false report? I havent heard anything about it since this thread, well atleast nothing official yet.
