Shaq was the leader on the court, but he also played with savvy veterans who didn't need much guidance. I'd say Alonzo is probably the locker room leader in Miami along with Payton. On the floor Wade is definitely the player his teammates look to when they need a basket and he was delivering.

Detroit that one year didn't double-team Shaq that much and they ended up winning. They double-teamed Kobe a lot more. And look what happened. Detroit won! The MAVS shouldn't have double-teamed Shaq. Let him get his 20 and 10 and his 1- 10 from the free-throw line. They should have double-teamed Wade the whole series. They didn't think Wade was that good. He was though. There was a lot of factors leading up to the Lakers missing the playoffs. The team was actually playing .600 basketball early in the season, but then got hit with key injuries. Kobe missed close to 20 games, same with Odom, their big offseason signing of Vlade Divac didn't work out. Devean George and Luke Walton barely played. Then Rudy T quits in mid-season and the team completely spirals in the second half. Pretty much everything that could go wrong that season, went wrong.
Great Post shape. Remember, in Kobe's first season w/o Shaq, there were running all types of different offensive schemes. Rudy T basically let them go for it. Kobe actually suggested that the Lakers try playin the triangle and they found some success with it. I thought they would have had a much better season if Rudy T didnt quit in the middle and Kobe and Co. didnt have so many injuries. That season was just a terrible season overall for the franchise. It had little to do with Shaq leaving.
