Sprewell seems interested in joining the Lakers, but the Lakers saying, since Sprewell turned down the $7M offer from the Timberwolves, that it's unlikely they'll get him. However, isn't there the possibility that Spree is tired of playing with the Timberwolves? If I were Mitch, I'd get on this right away.

There's a lot of talk about Jalen Rose, Nick Van Exel, Ron Artest, Earl Watson, and Latrell Sprewell. Are the Lakers interested in ANY of these players? It doesn't seem like they are interested in negotiating with them. Aaron McKie isn't the greatest choice of starting point guards, and our back up guards are of low quality. If the Lakers don't get any more PGs, expect Lamar Odom and/or Kobe to play the PG.

Mitch should drop the Sprewell thing like a bad habit. He needs to go for someone better, someone faster, and someone without that god awful hair do. With Sprewell will bring bad chemistry, I mean we don't want him attacking Phil Jackson with a 2x4 do we?

LMAO,and you say the Heat will have chemistry issues. If that happens...oh my gosh the lakers will be in trouble. Just pray it doesn't happen.

It looks like even though sprewell doesnt like the money there offering its his only choice.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Latrell Sprewell doesn't like the money the Lakers are offering, but he appears to be running out of options.
Sprewell, the talented but controversial free-agent guard who played last season in Minnesota, is seeking a deal starting at $5 million per season. He has spoken to the Lakers, which can offer only the $2.5 million remaining from its midlevel exception.

But lately, potential suitors San Antonio and Denver eliminated themselves from consideration by using their full $5 million midlevel exceptions to sign Michael Finley and Earl Watson, respectively.

That leaves only Miami, which has its full $5 million slot, and the Lakers as the remaining logical landing points for Sprewell.

Sprewell's agent, Robert Gist, confirmed Friday he hasn't been in contact with the Heat, but he has talked with the Lakers.

"When Latrell thinks about the Lakers, he gets a big smile on his face," said Gist. "Playing alongside a great player like Kobe Bryant and for a great coach like Phil Jackson is something he's very intrigued by." </div>

If the Lakers can sign Spree for only $2.5Million I have no problem adding him to the team. He would be a great 6th man coming off the bench.

From what i know spree will not accept the role as a bench player. He would be a great buy at 2.5 mill but i don't see him accepting the fact that someone else is getting the starting position.

what i dont get is how this guy keeps demanding more money and a starting position when teams are not interested in him

rockets pickd DA over him, detroit rejected him, nuggets rumors began but they just signed earl watson

he really is running out of options
spree if u want to keep your job then lower ur standards cuz they are way way to high for what you did last year

    Well put.

The Lakers NEED to sign Latrell Sprewell, he should thrive under the leadership of Kobe Bryant and coach Phil Jackson. We need to sign him so that Miami doesn't get any stronger. What I don't understand is, why don't you start him instead of Aaron McKie? Sprewell has pretty decent defense and has good size.

    thrive???
this guy isnt a rookie or in his 2nd or 3rd year
he needs to produce so he can contribute to a team that is pushing for a championship.

my bet is hell end up signing with nuggets unless earl watson took their full MLE then itll be lakers

I honestly don't see Spree making a big difference for the Lakers. He's a SG/SF. Who's he going to start over? Kobe? Lamar? Not happening. I do like the idea of him as point gaurd. Having him start and Mckie come off the bench would be a good combo. This is the only lineup that would work however....Lamar or Kobe at PG won't work. We need to stop putting players out of their natural positions and let them play in their comfort zone. I'm very intrigued to see what kind of damage Lamar will do at SF.

    PG- SPree
    SG- Kobe
    SF- Lamar
    PF-Kwame
    C- Mihm

That's a pretty mean back court, with a decent front court and a great SF. I think this looks good

Guys, the main question for Sprewell, is how will he feed his family on 2.5 mil a year. he could have gotten 7 mil a year from wolves, but that wasnt enough for his family. i think Sprewell is a virus to the team
