http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/ce...effersons_side/ [red]''I put my trust in Coach," said Jefferson. ''One thing about Coach, he'll always keep it straight with you. ''You need a guy like that on your side. You don't need somebody who is going to just tell you what you want to hear. You need somebody who's going to be honest with you and keep it real with you. ''That's one thing I love about Coach. I think Doc trusts my game. I think he knows how good I can be. He used to tell me that I need to know how good I can be. I think it's just hitting me, realizing how good I can be in this league." And that could be very good. Consider this: Jefferson views his rookie season (6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds per game) as ''average." A lot of rookies would like such an average season, with an invite to the All-Star rookie-sophomore game, and a rookie top-15 ranking in points, rebounds, and field goal percentage (.528). ''I knew from the go, if I could just learn the system, learn the flow of the game, and just understand the game, I could play," said Jefferson. ''I still don't really know the game like I should. ''If I keep working hard and just keep working on my game, I know I can be a superstar in this league."[/red] This is a good article by Shira. Read the whole thing.
Those are all great things to hear. I cannot wait for this guy to be a superstar, just like he says. It really is just a matter of time before he breaks out of his shell. I think the most fun thing to watch with be how he evolves this season alone.
how long do you think it will be before he reaches his potential? I guess my question is ~ will he be something special this year? its one thing im excited about seeing next year.

But I strongly believe that there is going to be some serious growth on the low blocks this season. People have likened his development to that of Shawn Kemp, and if that's the case, he's due for another season or two adjustment. I don't think he'll be the gem we expect for at least one more season, which there is no shame in. The man has shown he has some tremendous ability in this game, and I think he'll start putting up at least minutes this year, which will only aim him in the right direction, but he appeared to be a little too sensitive to benching and locker room dissension last year. Let's hope those things don't sidetrack him again, and we can watch him grow into the superstar he no doubt can be.
I love the way Big Al is thinking right about now, he knows he can be someone special, and he is not waiting for it to come to him, he is determined and working real hard in the off-season to improve...thats great to hear, and, no doubt he will be a superstar eventually!
You gotta love Al's mentality about this. Al Jefferson played really consistent and great last season he was a beast. He is only going to get better every year and it looks like his mind is focused and on track, he knows what he has to do and agrees with his coach. GO AL!!!!!!!!!!!
