You know, Sun Ming Ming whose like 7'9". They say he didn't get drafted because he's too freaking slow, but now they know why - turns out, he's got a tumor. But what's worse is he can't afford the surgery. Yall can read up on him here Sun Ming Ming Damn, I would love to see this guy be Shaq's backup from the bench.

It is true...I saw the news report while I was watching Chinese news with my parents....(not something I normally do, but hey its basketball).........it would be cool if he was helped out so that he canget out of China to live up his dreams and aspirations to become a player in the NBA.... it would've been tight to see him backup Yao....would be cool cuz of being able to come to a new country and play ball with a familiar face makes it easier
Yeah, usually the abnormally tall people have some kind of tumor that accelerates the growth of the body. Something called gigantism. I do believe that Manute Bol had it as well but he took it out. My best wishes to Sun.

If sun ming ming does join the nba eventually, he prbably wont have that long a career. ps. i don't know if i buy this, wouldn't the chinese gvmt fork over the money for him, they would for yao.
the chinese government isn't known for giving out money too often.....not even for situations like this....man...I wanted to see Sun play....
If he is no longer eligible for the draft you would think that any team that is interested would just front the money for the surgery under the terms that he signs with them. 130k isn't much for an NBA owner wanting to pickup a 7'8" behemoth.

Sad yet expected. Usually, ridiculously tall people possess several disabilities that a human being with average height may not have. Wish him the best though.
This is sad to here, I really hope he can raise the fund and be healthy after all. And I really want to see him playing agains Yao and Shaq!
