    Best & Worst Dunk Contests?

ok, in your personal opinions, what do you think was the best/worst dunk contest thats taken place so far? Explain your reasons too.

Best: I would say the 2005 dunk contest, just because it was so innovative, all the dunks were insane, although Chris Anderson dragged it down a little bit, but hey, who cares about Chris Anderson anyway? Also Oakland 2000 with Vince Carter, T-Mac & Steve Francis, although that comp went for like and hour, got a bit dragged out, but the dunks from those 3 were just crazy.

Worst: 2003, it sucked. There was only one good dunk, and that was Jason Richardsons backwards through the legs dunk, he just repeated all his dunks from the year before apart from the last one. Desmond Mason just did simple plain boring dunks, that we've seen a million times before. Richard Jefferson screwed up his dunks, didnt even look like he cared much. Amare's were nice, but seen them before too.

Im not sure about my favorite and leasts favorite but you would put THIS YEARS DUNK CONTEST AS BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so a guy doing a one handed windmill is betta then Jordan and Human Highlight dunk off??? AND WORST 2003 any contest no matter how bad it is is still great with any off the backboard between the legs thats just insane.

This years dunk contest sucked IMO. 2003 was good, as was the aforementioned 2000.

I dont know how you couldnt have liked either of the dunk contests J-Rich or VC won, they actualy did difficult and original dunks. It seems like these days dunk contests are all about how many 10 year olds you can jump over or how akward of a pass you can catch even if the ensuing dunk isnt anything special.

    you are joking right?

I had the 2000 contest as one of my favourites

The 2003 contest was not good at all, how can you say it was good? It sucked. J-Rich just duplicated his exact same dunks from the dunk contest the year before. Desmond Mason did the most un original piss poor dunks i've ever see in a contest, RJ was just a failure who couldnt even pull off his dunks properly, and Amare had some promise, but he didnt deliver. All Desmond Mason did was a reverse jam, a through the legs, a rock the baby and a one handed jam, wow, exciting stuff.....

This years was insane, very creative and innovative also, as was 2000's, pretty much every dunk done in those 2 contests hadnt been seen before in a dunk contest.

Dang ya'll need to watch some of the old school tapes man. The 1988 Dunk Contest is hands down the best there is. 2000 is cool too, but nothing beats MJ vs Nique.

This last years was a little bit of both. Josh and JR Smith were amazing, but what in the hell did Chris Anderson think he was doing throwing the ball at the hoop a dozen times. It actually made me angry. Also, pretty much all of Stoudamires dunks were cool because of a pass Nash gave him. The fact that JR Smith did a behind the back dunk that seemingly noone cared about and didnt go to the final round was also annoying. Also the dunk contest Kobe won was pretty uninteresting. He emulated a couple classic dunks, nothing original.

IMO, the worst SDC was in 2001 with Baron Davis, Corey Maggette and Desmond Mason. Most of the dunks were pretty bland and the whole thing wasn't exciting for me to watch.

Jordan vs. Nique - They put on two great performances in 1985 and 1988 and nothing I feel has topped that since, although this years contest was pretty good too and has some memorable dunks to look back on.

    Jordan's rookie year.

    Dominique Wilkins
    Dr. J
    Michael Jordan
    Clyde Drexler
    Orlando Woolridge
    Larry Nance

Jordan did his classic free throw line dunk in the old retro chicago jerseys and where he was beat by Dominique. He also did the rock the cradle dunk. IIRC, Dr. J also dunked from the free throw line.

Nique' had the dunk where he bounced it off the floor, hit the glass, and he did his signature tomahawk slam. His windmills were awesome!

The first one in Denver was cool too.. just to see all those players with afros was funny.

I really liked this years one, Josh Smith ruled that one. As for the worst I'm suprised nobody has said this one already but the one with the wheel (I don't what year), I think it took all the creativity out of it and was just boring.

I don't understand how anyone can badmouth a dunk contest and call them trashy and like they didn't care.

    Can you dunk?

Until I see YOU dunk from the free throw line then you earned your right, but until then you can just stick with "I didn't like it"

So basically you would never badmouth something like a cell phone knowing that you can't make one?

1988 was the best dunk contest because of Jordan v. Nique.

The worst dunk contest was the one JR Rider won.

The best for me was in 2005. With the exception of Chris Andersen, all of the dunks were pretty good overall.

The worst was 2004. Fred Jones wasn't great.

Best dunk contest- Mj and The Human Highlight Film, their battle, was off the charts, only one in its class would be VC and T-macs 2000 performance! that was nice! beta den nice!

Worst- Fred jones wasnt the worst, he was short which made it look better, but id have to say, 2004, no one stood out like this years.
