Read somewhere that we have interest in him. I like his game. Could be a very valuable addition, considering we drop some of our extra baggage.

Nevermind, I found it on hoopshype...here's an excerpt

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The arrival of Finley and Van Exel most likely means the end of the Brent Barry era in San Antonio. While neither of those two can pass as well as Barry, each is more likely to become the type of lockdown defender coveted by Popovich.

? Sadly, it probably also means that Devin Brown will no longer be a Spur. I say sadly because Brown is one of the league?s best success stories, having played high school, college and pro ball in the same city (he attended the University of Texas-San Antonio). The good news? Brown has proved himself enough to warrant a spot somewhere else in the league. Milwaukee, Denver and Houston are all said to be interested.</div>

Is there any plausible way that we could get Brent Barry?

Brown isn't good enough to be a starter, but he has youth and energy, making him perfect to run the fast break along McGrady and Swift. He has been part of a winning system before and he's someone who works hard night in night out. The only thing now is how we're going to him. We have no more roster spots and no available free agent money, but if we could maybe pull a trade with San Antonio sending an expiring contract to the Spurs in return for Barry, I'd be all for it.

Hmm I wonder..would SA be willing to pull of a trade with one of their most competitive division rivals? I'd say Denver and Milwaukee have got bigger chances of landing him. I wouldn't mind Devin Brown though, he'd bring a lot of energy and youth off the bench and like dynastywarrior mentioned, he'd be great help for T-mac at SF.

Devin has signed an offer sheet with Utah. Houston never had a chance to sign him anyway. They have no money left to spend.

Argh. You're right..According to hoopshype, Devin already did sign an offer sheet with Utah. They're saying there's a possibility the Spurs might match it but with Finley announcing his desire to join them, I doubt they will.

It was possible that Houston got Brown in a sign-n-trade with the Spurs. Acquiring him would be great but we didn't have much of a chance of seeing that happening anyways. It was too good to happen; we've already had our share of luck this offseason with the signings of Swift and Anderson.

How exactly? for one Spurs won't want any of the trash contracts the Rockets have. There is also very little room for the Spurs to add anyone else and last of all why would the Spurs help out a division rival?

Well, the Spurs could have re-signed Brown, then shipped him off to Houston immediately for draft picks/expiring contracts from the Rockets. It would be a bit of a fairy tale if San Antonio had done it, seeing that we're division rivals and all, but the Rockets were interested, and of course they'd have had a plan to land Brown if he had indicated he would be willing to be a Rocket. This would probably be the most likely scenario that would have happened.

Since Brown's already signed with Utah, I'm going to close this thread up. Pointless to discuss something that ain't coming true. [IMG]
