"King" of the Small Forwards <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Well, for starters, he averaged better than 27 points, seven rebounds and seven assists last season. He also improved to 47 percent shooting from the field and hung around 40 percent from 3-point range most of the season before slipping back to 35 percent. Nevertheless, we're stuck wondering about his overwhelming numbers and the inability of the Cavs to make the playoffs in his first two season. The odds seem much better this season, which is why there is no doubt that James is easily the best small forward in the game today. He's extraordinarily strong, athletic and his shooting ability continues to amaze.</div> http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/4826916 I would have to agree with this choice, I can't think of anyone who can challenge him.
I think from last season McGrady was the better SF, but Lebron will be better this coming season and onward. Not taking into account craziness... 1) Tracy McGrady 2) Lebron James 3) Ron Artest 4) Paul Pierce 5) Shawn Marion 6) Andrei Kirilenko 7) Richard Jefferson 8) Peja Stojakovic 9) Corey Maggette 10) Carmelo Anthony 11) Lamar Odom 13) Rashard Lewis 14) Grant Hill 14) Shane Battier 15) Tayshaun Prince

What's up with Fox Sports and making lists? Og, they considered Tracy McGrady a Shooting Guard for some reason. I'm not sure if that's just part of the "craziness" you are talking about, but with him not considered one, I can't argue with much on this list. I'd probably put Pierce a few slots higher, Battier over Hill and Prince, and Maggette in the bottom of the top ten (probably over Odom), but other than that, this list isn't that bad. I agree with Andrei Kirilneko at #3, and I'm not sure why you'd have him ranked under a guy like Ron Artest, Og. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MrJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Where in the world is Tim Thomas?</div> Not on the list of course.
I cant say I disagree with his ranking....lebron is crazy talented...but MrJ, the only player i MIGHT consider removing from that list and replacing with TT is Battier...and even then, there are still some players I'd want over TT, like Josh Howard and Al Harrington...I'm not hating but TT needs to really work harder and get his mindset straight in order to be a top notch talent, which he definitely has the potential to do so...

If anything, Battier should be higher. If you gave him the minutes and the touches that most players on this list get, then he'd put up much better statistics. You also have to realize that Battier's game doesn't show up on the state sheet (as cliche as that sounds). Statistically, Battier ranks as the #1 Small Forward defensively, and I'm sure if they counted the number of times a player sacrifices his body for diving saves or charges, then Battier would be atop that list as well.
T Mac is a really a SG,he just play the 3 most of the time because of their lineup. But he is mainly a 2.
Foxsports.com has the most BS ratings. Ray ahead of Kobe AND T-Mac for the SG rankings? Their SF ratings are almost as bad with Jefferson ahead of Artest and Pierce. I mean he can potentially be better than them for this upcoming season (doubt it), but as of now, the obvious answer is that he is not.
Those rankings are ridiculous. Winning has a lot to do with it, it seems. OG, I'd put Vince on that list, taking into account his performances post-Decmber 17, 2004. The guy still has it (BTW, he's a SF, as is RJ).

Q Richardson played SF most of the time last season, but he's a 2, and as so he's listed. Same thing with Marion.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">T-Mac, Marion and Odom were not included because they aren't full-time SF's.</div> McGrady played small forward for the majority of last season...
