<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Pistons guard Chauncey Billups ripped former coach Larry Brown on Thursday for being too hard on Darko Milicic during Brown's two seasons with the club. In an interview with WXYTAM (1270), Billups claimed that Brown destroyed the confidence of the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 draft. "Larry beat him up too much," Billups said. "He tore the kid's confidence apart too much, and it was tough for him to recover. ... With (new coach) Flip (Saunders) there, maybe it's different. (Brown) beat him up too much, man, to where he could never recover." Brown frequently criticized Milicic in the media and refused to give him meaningful playing time, saying the 7-foot-1 center hadn't earned a spot in the rotation and wasn't ready to play. Milicic created a brief fi restorm midway through last season when he griped publicly about his endof-the-bench status. A meeting among Milicic, Brown and president of basketball operations Joe Dumars eased those tensions, but Billups revealed that Milicic remained sullen and frustrated by Brown's constant rebukes. "He beat that kid up way too much," Billups said. "The kid has unbelievable talent. There's nothing he can't do out there on the court. ... In the playoffs, we're smiling and laughing and having fun out there. I've never seen Darko smile one day ever in practice or playing, and that's a problem." </div> Source Once upon a time, Jermaine O'neal went through this same type of treatment in Portland with Mike Dunleavy Sr.
hummmmmmm. We'll what happens wit darko and how he responds.I think he has talent, because your not #2 overall for nothing.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Chutney:</div><div class="quote_post">And Kwame Brown had it with Michael Jordan.</div> Exactly what sprung to my mind when I read the article. Maybe under Flip he can do some damage next season as well as Kwame under Jackson.
This is more sensationalist media nonsense too. Where in all that Billups says does he "rip" Larry Brown? I hate the way the media embellishes their own agenda in these articles, and they do it in the first two sentences so average joe dunce just reads that and says that Billups hates Brown. Not true, we know he respects him as a coach, he just didn't agree with Brown's methods. The whole thing is ridiculous anyway. And Larry Brown didn't have any right doing what he did to Darko, that's tremendously unprofessional, and seems to me to be downright meanspirited. Nobody likes it when their boss comes out and tells the entire world that we're useless, and do deserve the opportunity we've been given. I hope Flip rights this ship, because as it stands, this is just plain injustice, and Larry deserves whatever he gets for it.
Chauncey is right, Larry did treat him a little harsh. Benching a number two pick and a guy who has alot of potential can destroy a player.
Lol, I would love to see Darko put up a double double against the Knicks and just give Brown the dirtiest look as he runs down the court.
^^ LOL that would be awesome. Poor kid, Brown must have really destroyed his confidence. I hope he proves everyone and becomes a good player. thats kinda sad when chauncey said hes never seen Darko smile in a game or in practice.

Benching a number two pick and a guy who has alot of potential can destroy a player.</div> Yep I agree. I'm glad Chauncey has come out and said this. If Darko was given meaningful minutes right from when he was drafted, he would be a good player, but as Chauncey said, LB has ruined his confidence, you know you can only sit on the bench for so long, and Darkos past breaking point.
It doesn't really matter what Darko can or can't do with or without Larry Brown. He's still going to get crossed and dunked on by my boy Air Milt Palacio.
Chauncey's right, I haven't seen Darko smile or laugh during a game. He kinda looks like an outcast on the bench. Hopefully we'll see some changes with Flip Saunders taking control.
Channing Frye should try and get out of NY ASAP, because I'd be surprised if he didn't get the same LB treatment.
